Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Nairobi
Once you have arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by your driver guide. You will have a short Safari briefing before being transferred to your hotel.
Day 2
Journey to Nanyuki & Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Nairobi - Nanyuki - Ol Pejeta Conservancy. After an early breakfast, we depart Nairobi and travel north to Nanyuki, enjoying a scenic drive through Kenya’s central highlands. Upon arrival in Nanyuki, we will enjoy lunch at The Trout Tree Restaurant, set within a sacred fig tree on the banks of the Burguret River, where fresh trout is sourced from the icy, Mount Kenya-fed waters below.
We then continue our journey to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, home to Kenya’s largest population of black rhino and a wealth of wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and abundant plains game, as well as rarer northern species such as Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest and Beisa oryx. Here, we enjoy game drives, visit the education centre and have the opportunity to feed Baraka, the tame blind black rhino.
After an afternoon game drive with sightings en route, we arrive at Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages, an independent, family-owned property with over 30 years of safari experience. Each cottage includes a private chef, waiter and housekeeper, and we enjoy dinner before our overnight stay.
Day 3
Morning & Afternoon Game Drives
We spend the day at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, with morning and afternoon game drives in search of black rhino, big cats and abundant plains game, while exploring the conservancy’s varied landscapes.
Day 4
Buffalo Springs Safari
Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Buffalo Springs National Reserve. This morning, we continue north to Buffalo Springs in the Samburu region, arriving at our camp in time for lunch. Set against the striking backdrop of Mount Koitogor and Mount Ololokwe, we settle in with a short briefing and time to relax before heading out on an afternoon game drive.
Buffalo Springs is known for its unique northern species, known as the 'Samburu Special Five' - including the gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe - alongside elephant, buffalo and occasional big cat sightings. We return to camp before dusk for dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 5
Game Drives in Buffalo Springs
Today, you can choose to rise early or enjoy a relaxed start, though the cooler morning hours offer the best opportunity for wildlife viewing. We head out on a morning game drive before returning to camp to relax during the heat of the day. As temperatures ease, we head out again for an afternoon game drive, returning to camp for dinner.
Day 6
Buffalo Springs to Masai Mara
Buffalo Springs National Reserve - Masai Mara. We depart after breakfast for the airstrip for our scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. After landing, we are met by our guide and transfer to camp with a game drive en route.
The Masai Mara, part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, is one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife regions, known for its vast plains, abundant wildlife and the annual wildebeest migration. After lunch, we take time to relax before heading out on an afternoon game drive until sunset. We return to camp at dusk for dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 7
Game Drives in Masai Mara & Optional Hot Air Balloon Ride
This morning, we will explore the Masai Mara, with morning and afternoon game drives in one of Africa’s most wildlife-rich reserves, known for its high concentration of animals and renowned big cat sightings. Alongside lion, leopard and cheetah, we may also encounter elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, impala, hyena and warthog across the open plains.
There's also an optional hot-air balloon safari at sunrise, offering a unique perspective over the Mara followed by a bush breakfast.
Day 8
Masai Mara to Nairobi
Masai Mara - Nairobi. After our final breakfast, we depart for the airstrip for our scheduled flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi. On arrival, we are met and transferred to Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport for day room use. You will have time to enjoy lunch at your leisure.
