Embark on an enchanting seven-day tour of Greece, a journey steeped in history and breathtaking landscapes. Your adventure begins in Athens, where you'll explore iconic landmarks such as the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum, with free time to wander the vibrant city streets. Traverse through the awe-inspiring Corinth Canal, lose yourself in the storied ruins of Epidaurus and Mycenae, and stand at the ancient birthplace of the Olympic Games in Olympia. The tour's highlight includes the ethereal monasteries of Meteora perched atop towering rock formations, offering unparalleled views, before concluding your expedition back in the historic heart of Athens.
Itinerary
Day 1
Athens
Upon arriving in Athens, we will meet you and arrange your transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore at your leisure.
Day 2
Athens Sightseeing
Experience the captivating contrasts of Athens on this insightful tour. Our expert guides will lead us to the Panathenaic Stadium, host of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 (brief stop). We will then pass by key landmarks, including the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, the Hellenic Parliament, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We'll also see the Academy, the University, the National Library, and Constitution Square (Syntagma).
At the Acropolis, you will explore the architectural masterpieces of Athens' Golden Age: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the Parthenon, known as the epitome of harmony between material and spirit. We will also visit the new Acropolis Museum, where classical-era statues are magnificently displayed. You have the remainder of the day to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 3
Corinth Canal, Epidaurus, Nafplion, Mycenae & Olympia
Athens - Olympia. We begin our day with an early departure from Athens, heading straight to our first stop, the impressive Corinth Canal. Next, we visit the renowned Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, famed for its extraordinary acoustics. Following this, we make a brief stop in Nafplion, a charming town that was once the capital of Greece.
Our journey continues to Mycenae, where we'll explore the archaeological site and see the legendary Tomb of Agamemnon. We then proceed to Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, travelling through the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Our day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay in Olympia.
Day 4
Exploring Olympia & Transfer to Delphi
Olympia - Delphi. In the morning, we will visit the archaeological site featuring the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum, providing a fascinating glimpse into ancient Greek history.
We will then travel through the plains of Heliad and Achaia, heading towards the striking bridge linking Rion and Antirion. En route, you can admire the charming towns of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and Itea from a distance. Our day concludes with our arrival in Delphi, where dinner and overnight accommodation await.
Day 5
Exploring Delphi & Transfer to Kalabaka
Delphi - Kalabaka. Today, we begin with a visit to the archaeological site of Delphi, once revered as the centre of the world in ancient times. Here, you'll explore its storied ruins and admire the famous statue, "The Bronze Charioteer," housed in the on-site museum.
In the afternoon, we continue our journey to Kalabaka, a charming town nestled at the foot of the Meteora rock formations. We will enjoy dinner and stay overnight in Kalabaka.
Day 6
Meteora & Return to Athens
Kalabaka - Meteora - Athens. We will visit Meteora, a remarkable site where numerous monasteries are perched atop towering rock formations, offering breathtaking views. These monasteries house invaluable historical and religious artefacts.
Our return journey to Athens will take us through Trikala, Lamia, and Thermopylae. We'll make a brief stop to admire the statue of Leonidas, a tribute to the heroism of the Spartan king during the famous battle. We then continue through the Kammena Vourla region before reaching Athens in the evening.
Day 7
Athens
Depending on your flight schedule, we will arrange your transfer to Athens Airport for your journey home.
