Summary
Spend eight fascinating days uncovering Morocco’s imperial cities, beginning and ending in vibrant Casablanca. After taking in the striking Hassan II Mosque and the city’s elegant boulevards, travel on to Meknes and the sacred town of Moulay Driss, with a stop at the remarkable Roman ruins of Volubilis. Delve into the maze-like medina of Fez, rich with history, craftsmanship and spiritual heritage, before continuing to Rabat and colourful Marrakech. Here, explore tranquil gardens, ornate palaces and the lively Jemaa El-Fna, with time for optional Atlas Mountain or desert experiences, before returning to Casablanca for your final night.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Casablanca
Upon arrival at Casablanca International Airport, make your own way to the hotel.
Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city and economic hub, blending modern energy with historic charm. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to explore the surrounding area at leisure.
Day 2
Casablanca to Fes via Meknes
Casablanca - Meknes - Fes. We begin our exploration of Casablanca with a visit to the Habous district, known for its traditional architecture and artisan shops. We continue to the Royal Palace, Mohamed V Square and the residential district of Anfa. We also view the impressive Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, dramatically positioned over the Atlantic Ocean.
We then travel to Meknes, the Ismaili capital, famed for its 40 km of ramparts. Here we see the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the Royal Stables and the historic Jewish Quarter. We continue to the sacred town of Moulay Driss for a panoramic stop before exploring the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its remarkably preserved mosaics.
Day 3
Discovering Fes
Today we dedicate the day to exploring Fez, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. We discover the Medieval Medina, a UNESCO-listed labyrinth of narrow streets and bustling souks. We view the Royal Palace gates, visit the Attarine or Bou Anania Medersa, and admire the Nejjarine Fountain. We also see the exterior of the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the Karaouine Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world.
Optional: You may choose to enjoy lunch in a traditional restaurant within the Medina.
Day 4
Rabat and onward to Marrakech
Fes - Rabat - Marrakech. We depart for Rabat, Morocco’s administrative capital and one of the country’s four imperial cities. We visit the Royal Palace - Mechouar, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the iconic Hassan Tower, an incomplete 12th century minaret overlooking the Atlantic.
You may wish to enjoy seafood at a local restaurant before we continue to Marrakech via the highway.
Day 5
Exploring Marrakech
We begin our discovery of Marrakech with visits to the Menara Garden, Bahia Palace, the Koutoubia Mosque and the Dar Si Said Museum. After lunch at the hotel, we explore the lively souks, artisan quarters and the famous Jemaa El-Fna Square, where storytellers, musicians and market stalls create a vibrant atmosphere.
In the evening, you may opt to attend a traditional dinner and Fantasia show at Chez Ali, featuring Moroccan hospitality, music and equestrian performances in a Berber-style setting.
Day 6
Marrakech at leisure
Today is at leisure to explore at your own pace. You may wander through the Medina, relax in a traditional hammam, or venture beyond the city into the Atlas Mountains or surrounding desert landscapes.
Alternatively, you may join an optional half-day excursion to the Ourika Valley, where you will discover lush scenery, waterfalls and traditional Berber villages set against the backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.
Day 7
Return to Casablanca
Marrakech - Casablanca. After breakfast, we travel back to Casablanca. Lunch is served at the hotel.
Enjoy your final evening at leisure.
Day 8
Departure from Casablanca
After breakfast, the tour concludes. Make your own way to Casablanca International Airport for your onward flight.
