Captivating South Korea - 11 Days

Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Seoul, Korea’s vibrant capital — a dynamic metropolis brimming with energy, rich history, political significance, economic strength, and cultural charm.

After checking into the hotel, you can enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, wander through lively streets, browse local markets, relax in a café, or try local dishes.

After breakfast, we’ll be picked up from the hotel and visit Jogyesa Temple, the main temple of Korean Buddhism’s Jogye order, known for its vibrant lotus lanterns and elegant architecture. We’ll then explore Gyeongbokgung Palace (or Deoksu Palace on Tuesdays), Korea’s grandest royal residence, with its stately gates and serene gardens reflecting the splendour of the Joseon Dynasty.

Next, we’ll watch the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony, a vibrant display of tradition with rhythmic music and precise choreography offering a glimpse into Korea’s royal past. We’ll then explore the National Folk Museum, discovering Korea’s heritage through traditional clothing, crafts, and folklore. Then, we will visit the Korean Ginseng Center or Amethyst Shop to learn about prized local products, and you can pick up unique souvenirs.

Our day continues at the Korean Folk Village, a detailed recreation of the late Joseon Dynasty with authentic homes, crafts, and performances. We’ll return to Seoul, you can enjoy your evening at leisure, perhaps sampling nearby culinary delights.

Seoul – Jeju Island. Today, we’ll be picked up three hours before our domestic flight to Jeju Island. We will enjoy a scenic journey to Korea’s southern volcanic paradise, known for its dramatic natural landscapes and coastal beauty. Once we have arrived at Jeju International Airport, we will be transferred to our accommodation for check-in.

Jeju Island, a UNESCO-listed gem, blends volcanic terrain, lava tubes, beaches, waterfalls, and lush greenery with a mild climate, making it one of Korea’s most iconic destinations. You have the afternoon free to unwind—stroll scenic beaches, savour fresh local flavours, or explore nearby sights as you please.

This morning, we’ll start at Hyupjae Beach, where white sands and turquoise waters set the scene for a stroll and coastal views. We’ll then explore Hallim Park, wandering through lush botanical gardens with palms, bonsais, water features, and rare subtropical plants.

Next, we’ll visit the O’sulloc Tea Museum to learn about Korea’s tea culture, sample local blends, and enjoy the green tea fields. We will then enjoy lunch, sampling authentic Jeju Island dishes.

After lunch, we will board the Sanbang Mountain Cruise for a scenic journey along Jeju’s dramatic coastline, taking in volcanic cliffs, striking rock formations, and sweeping ocean views.

We’ll then visit the serene Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls, known as "The Pond of God," where three gentle cascades flow into clear blue pools surrounded by lush greenery. Later, we will return to our accommodation, where you will have the rest of the day at leisure.

Jeju Island - Busan. Today, we will venture to Jeolmul Natural Forest, a woodland set beneath a dormant volcanic crater. Stroll through its 300 hectares of cedar trees, soaking in the fresh mountain air and peaceful atmosphere of Jeju’s untouched nature.

Next, we immerse ourselves in local culture at Seongeup Folk Village, wandering through traditional houses and exploring the well-preserved village to experience Jeju’s unique heritage and charm. We will continue our cultural discovery at the Haenyeo Museum, where we will explore exhibits and historic displays celebrating Jeju’s iconic female divers and their courageous lives. If available, we will enjoy a live demonstration of their remarkable diving skills.

After, we will visit Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, a striking volcanic formation rising 180 metres above sea level. Formed over 5,000 years ago by underwater volcanic activity, it now forms a peninsula known for its views and stunning landscapes.

Finally, we will explore Jeju Stone Park, an ecological museum showcasing the island’s rich stone culture. We will walk scenic paths, admire unique sculptures, and learn about the deep connection between Jeju’s people and their volcanic heritage. At approximately 6:00 pm, we will arrive at the airport where we will board a flight to Busan. Once we have arrived, we will be transferred to the hotel, where you will have the rest of the night at your leisure.

Busan - Gyeongju. After breakfast, we will be met by our guide, who will take us on a full-day tour of Busan. We start the day at Haeundae Beach, a 1.5-kilometre stretch of white sand with sparkling waters and stunning coastal views, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere.

We will then follow the scenic Dalmaji-gil Road, renowned for its ocean views, sandy beaches, camellia fields, and pine forests—one of Busan’s eight scenic wonders. Next, we will visit Haedong Yonggungsa Temple on the rugged coast, admiring its architecture, ocean vistas, and spiritual atmosphere.

After, we will continue to Gamcheon Culture Village, known as "Busan’s Machu Picchu," where colourful hillside houses, murals, and quirky art create a vibrant urban mosaic perfect for exploring and taking photos. Next, we will visit Jagalchi Fish Market, Korea’s largest seafood market, bustling with fresh catches and lively vendors, then stroll through nearby BIFF Square to experience vibrant street food, shops, and Busan’s city life.

For groups of 8 or more, enjoy a hands-on Korean rice cake experience led by a skilled master, learning traditional techniques and tasting your own creations.

Later, we will make our way to Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla Kingdom, known as Korea’s “Museum without Walls.” Arriving at twilight, we will explore Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, where the illuminated Imhaejeon Pavilion reflects on the water.

Gyeongju - Daegu. Today after breakfast, meet our guide at 8:30 AM to explore the ancient city of Gyeongju, once the capital of the Silla Dynasty for nearly a thousand years and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. We begin at the Gyeongju National Museum, home to a collection of Silla-era treasures—intricate jewellery, ceramics, Buddhist art, and royal relics that offer a glimpse into Korea’s golden age. We then continue to Cheomseongdae Observatory, Asia’s oldest surviving astronomical observatory, with its simple yet brilliant 7th-century design reflecting the scientific knowledge of the time.

Afterwards, we ascend the slopes of Mount Toham to visit the sacred Seokguram Grotto, a remarkable 8th-century granite temple featuring a seated Buddha surrounded by carved disciples and guardians. We end the day at the nearby Bulguksa Temple, a masterpiece of Buddhist architecture nestled in serene natural surroundings, famed for its stone bridges, pagodas, and spiritual calm—widely regarded as one of Korea’s most iconic cultural landmarks.

Later, we will journey to the heart of Gyeongsang province, Daegu. Upon arrival, we will head to our accommodation, and you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure to relax or explore as you wish.

Daegu - Andong - Pyeongchang. This morning, we will visit Haeinsa Temple, set in the forests of Gayasan National Park. Founded in 802 AD, it is home to the Tripitaka Koreana—over 81,000 wooden blocks of Buddhist scripture carved with remarkable precision. Surrounded by mountain scenery, the temple offers a glimpse into Korea’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

We will continue onward to Andong Hahoe Village, a living heritage site that preserves the architecture and traditions of the Joseon Dynasty. Still inhabited, the village offers an authentic glimpse into Korea’s past, famously visited by Queen Elizabeth II. As we explore its narrow lanes, historic homes, and traditional crafts, we’ll connect with the rich cultural spirit that defines this timeless community.

Lastly, we will travel to Pyeongchang, the scenic mountain city that hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics. Along the way, take in the changing landscapes as we approach this destination, where modern Olympic history meets natural beauty. Upon arrival, we’ll settle into our accommodation.

Pyeongchang - Seoul. Today, if our group has 8 or more passengers, we will visit the peaceful Woljeongsa Temple, nestled in Odaesan’s forests. Here, we will learn temple etiquette, take part in walking meditation, tour the historic grounds, meet a resident monk, and enjoy a traditional monastic meal embracing simplicity and mindfulness.

We will make our way to Seoraksan National Park, a natural haven where rugged peaks pierce the clouds and jade waters flow through valleys. This UNESCO site is famed for its rich biodiversity, stunning views, and photo opportunities.

Next, we will visit the Sinheungsa Temple, nestled in Mt. Seorak’s mountains, which was founded in the 7th century by monk Jajangyulsa. It offers a blend of Korean history, architecture, and peaceful surroundings for quiet reflection. After, we will make our way back to Seoul, where we will be dropped off at our hotel.

After an early breakfast, meet your guide and be sure to bring your passport for admission into the DMZ. Our journey begins at Imjingak Park, a poignant site symbolising unity and remembrance, featuring monuments and memorials dedicated to peace on the Korean peninsula. We then cross the historic Unification Bridge and clear security and ID checks before entering the heavily fortified DMZ.

Once we have entered the DMZ, we explore the Theater and Exhibition Hall to gain compelling insights into the Korean conflict and hopes for reunification. After, we will descend into the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, a secret passage built for infiltration, experiencing its tense yet fascinating history firsthand. Next, we will make our way to Dora Observatory for a panoramic view into North Korea, spotting towns, propaganda villages, flags, and signs of division—the closest official vantage point for visitors to North Korea. After, we will explore Dorasan Station, the northernmost railway stops in South Korea, symbolising hope for reunification and the future possibility of cross-border travel.

Later, we will have a short visit to either a prominent Amethyst or Ginseng Centre, where you will be able to browse and shop for Korean Ginseng or amethyst jewellery. The tour concludes at Seoul City Hall, centrally located for you to explore nearby shops, cafes, or landmarks at your own pace. Return to your hotel by foot, taxi, or subway as you enjoy the city's vibrant energy.

After your final breakfast, depending on your departure flight time, you may have some time for some last-minute shopping or exploring before your transfer to the airport. The driver will meet you at the hotel 4 hours before your departure flight to take you to the Incheon International Airport for your onward flight. Safe travels!
