Exploring Rome & the Vatican City
Rome - Vatican City - Rome. Today, we will meet with our tour leader for a walking tour through Rome, where we will admire Piazza Navona, a lively square with Baroque architecture, the Spanish Steps, a grand staircase leading to the Trinità dei Monti church, and the Pantheon, one of the best-preserved ancient temples in the city, before continuing to the iconic Trevi Fountain, where you can toss a coin to ensure your return to Rome.
Finally, we will arrive at Vatican City, where you’ll have access to the Vatican Museum with your included tickets. You’ll also have the opportunity to visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pope's residence, or, alternatively, you can opt for a 2-hour guided tour of the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel.
Day 3
Rome at Leisure
You’ll have an entire day to explore Rome at your own pace. Whether you choose to shop for souvenirs, visit iconic Roman landmarks, or simply unwind, the choice is yours. If you're interested, you can also book optional activities like a 2-hour walking tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum (entry included) or take part in a cooking class to master traditional Italian recipes. Alternatively, opt to join a bar crawl in Monti to sample wine, beer, cocktails, and liqueurs.
Day 4
Pompeii & Sorrento Exploration
Rome - Pompeii - Sorrento. This morning, we will meet our tour leader and set off on a fast train to Naples before continuing onward to Pompeii. Here, you’ll have time to wander through the archaeological site and take in the remarkably preserved remains of ancient Roman life. Your entrance ticket is included, and if you’d like a deeper understanding of the ruins, you may join an optional guided visit led by a licensed expert.
By late afternoon, we will reach Sorrento, a charming town overlooking the Bay of Naples. After checking in, we will head out for a relaxed walk through the centre, where you can browse the local shops and get a feel for the atmosphere.
In the evening, you will have the chance to join an optional traditional dinner featuring regional dishes, or you may simply enjoy the rest of the night at your leisure.
Day 5
Capri Day Trip
Sorrento - Capri - Sorrento. Today at 8:30, we will head out on a boat trip from our accommodation to the island of Capri. As we cross the bay, our tour leader will share stories and background about the island to help bring its history to life. Once we arrive, you’ll have the entire day to explore as you wish. You can stroll through the centre, relax on the beach, visit the Blue Grotto, or take the optional chairlift up to Mount Solaro for incredible views across the coastline. If you prefer, you’re welcome to stay with the tour leader for a more guided experience around the island.
Later in the afternoon, we will return to Sorrento and make our way to a natural pool beside ancient ruins, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim as the sun begins to set. It’s a peaceful spot and a great place to unwind, with time afterwards to enjoy your evening at leisure.
Please note: Remember to bring a towel for swimming in Capri and at the natural pool. Boat departures to Capri may be cancelled if sea conditions are unsafe. Should this happen, you will be given free time to enjoy your day in Sorrento instead.
Day 6
Highlights of the Amalfi Coast
Sorrento - Amalfi - Positano - Sorrento. Today, we’ll set off from Sorrento by private bus for a stunning drive along the Amalfi Coast, following the cliffside route that has become famous for its sweeping sea views and dramatic scenery. Along the way, we’ll pass traditional fishing villages and enjoy incredible coastal vistas as we make our way towards Amalfi.
We’ll spend a couple of hours in Amalfi, giving you time to explore the historic centre at your own pace. You can step inside the impressive cathedral, relax by the shoreline, or try some local pastries and snacks from the shops tucked around the main square.
In the afternoon, we continue to Positano, often seen as the most picturesque spot on the coast. Here, you’ll have several hours to meander through narrow lanes, browse small boutiques, or enjoy a dip in the Mediterranean with the colourful houses rising above you.
Afterwards, we’ll return to Sorrento for your final evening, leaving you free to enjoy dinner, find souvenirs, or simply watch the sun set over the Bay of Naples with your fellow travellers.
Please note: For smaller groups, this day may be done by boat instead of bus, giving you an even more memorable way to experience the Amalfi Coast.
Day 7
Exploring Naples & Transfer to Rome
Sorrento - Naples - Rome. Today, we leave Sorrento behind and make our way north toward Naples, enjoying views of the coastline and Mount Vesuvius as we travel. Once we arrive, our tour leader will guide us on an orientation walk through some of the city’s most iconic areas, including the grand Piazza Plebiscito, the historic San Carlo Theatre, and the lively Spanish Quarter.
After the walk, you’ll have free time to enjoy the city at your own pace. This is the perfect moment to try a true Neapolitan pizza, browse the local shops for souvenirs, or simply take in the energy of Naples’ bustling streets.
