Summary

SMALL GROUP COMFORT CAMPING: Begin your 12-day fully-serviced camping safari at Victoria Falls, Africa’s adventure capital, where there’s free time to marvel at the thundering falls. Cross into Botswana to enjoy a sunset cruise on the Chobe River and a game drive across Chobe National Park to the wilderness of Savute, famed for its large prides of lions. Explore the diverse landscapes of Moremi on thrilling 4x4 safaris and visit Khama Rhino Sanctuary, one of the best places in Botswana to see rhino. Heading into South Africa, discover the ancient landscapes of Mapungubwe, where San rock art adorns sandstone outcrops and giant baobabs dot the horizon, before concluding your adventure in Johannesburg.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Victoria Falls

    Welcome to Zimbabwe! You will be met at Victoria Falls airport and transferred to our hotel. The afternoon and following morning are free for you to browse the local markets, to experience the many optional activities on offer in the adrenalin capital of Africa including scenic flights over the Falls and visit the spectacular Victoria Falls (at your own expense). At 6pm this evening there will be a welcome meeting at the hotel.

    We highly recommend booking pre tour accommodation to allow yourself enough time to enjoy the activities on offer at Victoria Falls. We can arrange this for you on request.

  • Day 2

    Chobe River

    Victoria Falls - Chobe River (Botswana). On day 2 the morning is free to take part in some of the many optional activities available in Africa’s adventure capital, such as white-water rafting or a scenic flight over the Falls. We depart after lunch and cross into Botswana, arriving at our campsite on the banks of the Chobe River, mid afternoon. Chobe is renowned for its striking scenery, unforgettable sunsets, and its incredible abundance of wildlife and birdlife.

    The next morning is free for an optional game drive in Chobe National Park (at your own expense). In the late afternoon, we set out on a tranquil game viewing boat cruise along the Chobe River, offering a unique perspective of the park’s wildlife and a chance to witness one of Africa’s most beautiful sunsets.

  • Day 4

    Chobe National Park & Savute

    Chobe River - Savute. We change into our 4x4 vehicles today, depart Chobe River and enjoy a remarkable game drive through Chobe National Park to the Savute area. The area is famous for its large prides of lions and amazing wildlife. We spend the afternoon on game drives in the area and spend the night at a private campsite with bush toilets and showers.

  • Day 5

    Khwai area of Moremi Wildlife Reserve

    Savute - Mababe. We travel in our 4x4 vehicles through Savute to the Mababe area which borders Moremi Game Reserve, spotting animals en route. This pristine wilderness is renowned for its lush green vegetation, scattered palm trees, abundant birdlife, and thriving wildlife. We explore the private concession and the Khwai region of Moremi on early morning and late afternoon game drives. At our private campsite it's an authentic wilderness experience, with bush showers and toilets.

  • Day 7

    Maun

    Mababe - Maun. We pack up camp this morning, depart the Mababe area and travel to Maun, arriving at lunchtime. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

  • Day 8

    Khama Rhino Sanctuary

    Maun - Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Departing Maun we travel along the western edge western edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, arriving in Khama Rhino Sanctuary late afternoon.

    In the late afternoon, you have the option (at your own expense) to join a two-hour game drive in search of the many white rhinos that call the sanctuary home.

  • Day 9

    Into South Africa

    Khama Rhino Sanctuary - Mapesu Game Reserve (South Africa). At 6am this morning there's the opportunity to partake in an optional game drive (at your own expense), in search of the many white rhino inhabiting Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Then we travel towards the Botswana border crossing the Limpopo River into South Africa. We set up camp in the bush near the Limpopo River, in Mapesu Private Game Reserve on the border of Mapungubwe National Park. Mapungubwe and the historic Mapungubwe Hill form part of a World Heritage Site, once home to the first southern African kingdom in the 13th century and rich with San rock art sites.

  • Day 10

    Mapesu Private Game Reserve

    We begin the day with a morning walk to explore the ancient Kaoxa Bushman paintings, gaining insight into the history and culture of the San people. In the late afternoon we head out on sunset game drive offering spectacular views across a landscape dotted with baobabs.

  • Day 11

    Johannesburg

    Mapesu Private Game Reserve - Johannesburg. On day 11 we set out on the final leg of our journey, travelling through the Limpopo Province to Johannesburg. Our African adventure ends on day 12 with a transfer to Johannesburg airport.
