Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Halifax
Arrive in Halifax and settle into our downtown accommodation in the heart of this lively and cosmopolitan city on the Atlantic coast.
In the evening, join a welcome meeting with your tour guide and the rest of the group, to find out more about what the next week has in store.
Day 2
Halifax to Moncton & lobster dinner
Halifax - Moncton. Today we discover the Bay of Fundy and experience the world’s highest tides as we journey along its vibrant coastline towards New Brunswick. Along the way, we visit the Joggins Fossil Cliffs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we’ll encounter remarkably exposed layers of rock showcasing the world’s most comprehensive fossil record from the "Coal Age", 300 million years ago.
Upon entering New Brunswick, we enjoy a delicious included lobster dinner aboard a lobster boat. We then continue to Moncton for the night.
Day 3
Moncton to Saint John
Moncton - Saint John. This morning, we take in the iconic Hopewell Rocks along the coast of the Bay of Fundy. We’ll admire the enormous flowerpot-shaped formations, carved by the planet’s highest tides.
We then continue our journey through Fundy National Park to Saint John, New Brunswick’s first incorporated city, situated on the southern coast. Here, we enjoy an included city tour, taking in highlights including the Reversing Falls, where the Bay of Fundy’s tides cause the Saint John River to reverse its flow twice each day. We will be spending the next two nights at a hotel in Saint John.
Day 4
St Andrews by-the-Sea day trip
Saint John - St. Andrews - Saint John. We are embarking on a day trip to the picturesque town of St. Andrews by-the-Sea. You will have free time to explore the area and we will also enjoy an included sightseeing and whale watching boat tour (weather permitting). We will enjoy wonderful views of the coastline and hope to spot species including minke whales, humpbacks and white-sided dolphins. If we are exceedingly lucky, and depending on the season, we may even spot a North Atlantic right whale - this is the most endangered whale in the world, with just a few hundred animals remaining.
We return to Saint John for the night.
Day 5
Ferry to Digby
Saint John - Digby. This morning, we take the ferry back to Nova Scotia and arrive in Digby, renowned as the scallop capital of the world. This enchanting town, rich in history, offers us a blend of fresh sea air and vibrant Acadian culture. We check into our hotel, which boasts stunning views of the Annapolis Basin on the Bay of Fundy. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 6
Annapolis Valley to Halifax
Digby - Annapolis Valley - Halifax. We explore the lush Annapolis Valley, where the French Acadians first settled in Grand Pre in the early 1600s. We discover the area's designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where history and legend intertwine to reveal the romantic tale of the Land of Evangeline. We then enjoy a tour and tasting at a local winery before heading back to Halifax for the evening.
Day 7
Halifax
Our tour comes to an end this morning, after breakfast and hotel check out.
