Itinerary
Day 1
Journey to the Heart of the High Atlas
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech, where you’ll enjoy a scenic drive south through the stunning Moulay Brahim Gorge and the verdant upper valleys. As you ascend to the higher foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains, you’ll arrive at Imi Oughlad (1,450m), the starting point of your trek. Towering peaks—Jbel Toubkal (4,167m), Aksoual (3,847m), and Aguelzim (3,650m)—create a dramatic backdrop, setting the tone for the journey ahead.
Here, you’ll meet your friendly Berber muleteer team before setting off on a leisurely 2-hour acclimatization hike. Winding along picturesque mule tracks, you’ll pass vibrant cornfields and fragrant pine and juniper woodlands, arriving at the Tiz n’Tachete Pass (2,000m). Take a moment to marvel at sweeping views of the Imlil and Ait Oussaden Valleys before continuing to Imi N’Ifri for a relaxing field picnic.
In the afternoon, enjoy a gentle 2.5-hour descent along a dirt track, leading you to the red clay terraced village of Tiziane (1,750m). Here, you’ll settle into a cozy Gîte for the night, experiencing the warmth and charm of Berber hospitality.
🕒 Arrival Note: Please ensure you arrive in Marrakech no later than 10:00 AM to join this unforgettable journey.
Day 2
Exploring the Ait Oussaden Valley and Berber Villages
After a hearty breakfast, we begin our trek up the beautiful Assif n'Ait Oussaden Valley, winding through lush walnut groves. As we ascend, the path takes us to Tizi n'Taghrhourte (1,995m), offering breathtaking views before we continue to a rare, nearly flat section of the trail. Here, we arrive at the tranquil Assaka Spring, where we’ll pause for a peaceful field picnic amidst the quiet beauty of the valley, after approximately 2.5 hours of easy walking.
In the afternoon, we continue our hike, gently descending along the forested edges until we reach one of two charming Berber villages—D'knt (1,870m) or Agouns n'Assoul. In either village, we will enjoy a warm dinner and settle in for the night, immersed in the authentic culture and hospitality of the High Atlas.
Day 3
A Day Amongst the Walnut Groves and Berber Life
After breakfast, we embark on a scenic 3-hour hike through lush walnut groves and fields of corn and barley, encountering local sheep and goat herders along the way. You'll also see women and children carrying 20kg loads of wood and dried herbs, offering a glimpse into the daily life of the Berber communities. As we continue, we’ll cross the Tizi n'Tagdalte pass, descending through fragrant juniper trees to a small spring nestled in the forest, where we’ll stop for a peaceful picnic.
Recharged, we set off on a 3-hour descent along winding tracks on the upper slopes, making our way to a small river at the edge of the Assif n'Ait Oussaden Valley. From here, we enter the charming village of Tizi Oussem (1,850m), before continuing uphill to the summer village of Tamsoult, where we’ll set up camp or stay in a welcoming Gîte for the night.
Day 4
Waterfalls, High Passes, and a Return to Imlil
On the final day of our trek, we set out for a short but stunning hike to the beautiful waterfall at Azib Tamsoulte. After soaking in the serene beauty of this hidden gem, we begin our ascent to the Tizi n'Mzik pass (2,500m), where you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
From the pass, we descend into the main Toubkal Valley, reaching the village of Imlil (1,900m) in time for a well-deserved lunch, reflecting on the incredible journey. Afterward, we transfer back to Marrakech, where you’ll arrive in the evening.
🕒 Departure Note: Please plan your departure from Marrakech no earlier than 6:00 PM to allow plenty of time for the journey.

Customer reviews & ratings
It was such a great experience! Beautifull nature, friendly people, nice stays. The guide, Racheed and the chef, Mohammed maded us feel like home. I can only recommend this company. Everything was well organised and we really enjoyed our 4 days hike.
Ulrike Jun, 2023 VerifiedOur guides, Mohammed and Karim, were extremely friendly, passionate and knowledgeable, and I felt 100% safe in their hands! The food cooked for us by their assistants was wonderful, and we were welcomed into the homes of local hosts in various villages, which was a real privilege. It was quite hot in the month of July, so if you struggle hiking up hill in the heat, I would recommend going later in September/October, but if you are fit and healthy, you will be fine! Thank you to the team for a memorable experience, and something to treasure for a lifetime.
