Itinerary
Day 1
Coastal Drive to Seward
Meet your group and expert guide in Anchorage for a warm welcome to Alaska. This morning we travel along the spectacular Seward Highway, a designated National Scenic Byway where mountains rise dramatically beside the ocean.
We stop in the alpine town of Girdwood for an included ride on the Alyeska Tram. Ascending to 2,300 feet, the tram offers sweeping views over Turnagain Arm and the Chugach Mountains. From the observation deck, enjoy time to take in the scenery before descending. Later, we visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, home to rescued grizzlies, musk oxen, bison and moose. A picnic lunch is included in a picturesque outdoor setting.
By late afternoon we reach Seward, where we check into our waterfront hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore this charming harbour town—wander along Resurrection Bay, browse local art galleries, or relax in a café. Please Note: Tour departs Anchorage at 8 am
Day 2
Kenai Fjords Cruise
This morning we embark on an included half-day cruise into Kenai Fjords National Park, a breathtaking world of tidewater glaciers, icy fjords, and abundant marine life. Watch for whales, sea otters, puffins and harbour seals while learning from on-board naturalists.
Our experienced captain will guide us to a towering tidewater glacier, where we may witness calving—giant slabs of ice crashing into the sea.
Returning to Seward in the afternoon, you have free time to explore. You may wish to visit the Alaska SeaLife Center, a leading marine research facility and aquarium.
Day 3
Exit Glacier & Glacier View
We start the day with a guided walk at Exit Glacier, part of Kenai Fjords National Park. Choose an easy interpretive trail or a slightly longer walk to Marmot Meadows for panoramic glacier views. A picnic lunch is included.
This afternoon we drive north through forested valleys and mountain passes to Majestic Valley Wilderness Lodge, a quiet retreat overlooking the Matanuska Valley and Chugach Mountains.
Optional activities include a stroll on the lodge’s private trails or a soak in the hot tub under the Alaskan sky.
Day 4
Hatcher Pass to Denali
Our route today winds through Hatcher Pass, an alpine landscape rich in gold rush history. At Independence Mine Historical Park, preserved buildings and mine shafts recall the hardships and hopes of early miners. Your guide will share stories that bring the era to life. A picnic lunch is included.
By late afternoon we arrive in Denali and settle into our creekside cabins, just outside the park entrance. The evening is free to enjoy a nature walk or simply relax on your porch listening to the sounds of the surrounding wilderness.
Day 5
Denali Wildlife Adventure
Today we spend a full day exploring the vast landscapes of Denali National Park. Travelling by park wildlife bus, we journey deep into this wilderness of braided rivers, tundra and snow-capped peaks. Weather permitting, we may catch sight of Denali itself, North America’s tallest mountain.
Wildlife sightings could include grizzly bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep and golden eagles. A picnic lunch is provided during the excursion.
Day 6
Talkeetna & Scenic Railroad
After breakfast we drive south to Talkeetna, a quirky mountain town known for its arts scene and as the base for Denali climbing expeditions. Enjoy a picnic-style lunch and free time to explore the shops, riverside trails, or join an optional glacier landing flightseeing tour (weather permitting).
This afternoon we board the Alaska Railroad for a three-hour journey back to Anchorage. Sit back and take in the views of forests, rivers and mountains—a fitting finale to our Alaskan adventure.
We arrive in Anchorage between 8–9 PM, where your guide will assist with luggage and hotel transfers.
