Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome To Tokyo!
Welcome to Tokyo, and the start of your premium tour to Japan & South Korea! Meet your Adventure Leader and fellow travellers in the hotel lounge for a welcome briefing, where you’ll get the full lowdown on what’s to come. From hidden gems to unforgettable moments, it’s the perfect way to start your journey together.
Then it’s time to turn up the heat with a teppanyaki welcome dinner. Enjoy great food, plenty of laughs, and that all important first group photo.
End your first night with a visit to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, where the city sparkles below in a sea of lights. It’s the perfect introduction to the energy and excitement of Tokyo after dark.
Day 2
Sushi Masterclass, Meiji Shrine Serenity, & Harajuku District
Start your morning with a hands-on sushi masterclass and unleash your inner chef. Slice, roll and taste your own creations as local pros show you how it’s really done. Expect plenty of laughs, a few questionable rolls, and a brand-new love for Japan’s most iconic dish.
Next, we’ll slow things down at Meiji Shrine, Tokyo’s peaceful escape dedicated to Emperor Meiji. Your Adventure Leader will pick up a charm for everyone and share the story behind omamori, Japan’s little tokens of luck and protection – good vibes guaranteed.
Then it’s time to turn the energy back up in Harajuku, where wild fashion, colourful street snacks and offbeat shops steal the show. We’ll wander through to Shibuya Crossing to dive into the glorious chaos and snap a photo with loyal Hachiko. For an epic view, head up to Shibuya Sky and watch the city buzz beneath you.
After a day this fun, it’s only right to kick off your shoes and chill – tomorrow’s got even more in store.
Day 3
Shibamata, Taishakuten Temple & Sumo Dinner Experience
Today we’re swapping Tokyo’s bright lights for a bit of retro Japan. Step back in time in Shibamata, a nostalgic neighbourhood that feels straight out of the Showa era. Wander down Taishakuten Sando, where retro shops, street snacks and quirky souvenirs line the way, before checking out the beautifully carved Shibamata Taishakuten Temple. Then we’re off to Asakusa, a timeless pocket of Tokyo bursting with charm, history and photo ops around every corner.
As the evening rolls in, it’s time for something truly epic – a sumo experience with dinner. Meet ex sumo wrestlers, hear their wild stories, snap a few fun photos and then dig into a steaming bowl of Chanko Nabe, the same hearty meal that keeps Japan’s biggest legends fighting fit.
Day 4
Hakone Bound - Pirate Ship, Cable Car Ride & Onsen
Today we trade Tokyo’s buzz for Hakone’s crisp mountain air. Jump aboard the Romance Car express and soak up the views as the city fades into rolling hills and open skies. Once we arrive in Hakone Yumoto, take some time to explore and grab a bite, a little fuel before the adventure kicks into gear.
From here, we’ll bus to Moto-Hakone and climb aboard a pirate ship cruise across Lake Ashi. With its triple decks and epic views, it’s the most unique way to sail Japan’s famous volcanic lake. On clear days, keep your eyes peeled for the ultimate backdrop – Mt. Fuji towering above the horizon.
(Please note: Mt Fuji visibility can vary depending on the weather.)
Next up, soar high above the steaming volcanic valley of Owakudani by cable car for epic views and a taste of Hakone’s wild side. After an action-packed day, we’ll bus back to the accommodation where the evening is yours to unwind. Sink into the steamy waters of a traditional onsen bath and relax after a day of adventure.
Day 5
Kyoto Bound - Higashi Honganji Temple, Calligraphy & Karaoke
This morning we’ll head to Odawara Station and jump on the legendary Shinkansen bound for Kyoto. Sit back, watch the countryside fly by, and before you know it, we’ll be arriving in Japan’s ancient capital. After dropping off our bags at the hotel, we’ll kick things off with a visit to Higashi Honganji Temple. With its vast wooden halls, calm atmosphere and even a rope made from human hair used in its reconstruction, this temple is as fascinating as it is unique.
In the afternoon, it’s time to get creative with a Japanese calligraphy class. Brush, ink and paper at the ready, you’ll learn the elegant strokes of this centuries old art and create your own masterpiece to take home.
When the sun sets, it’s all about fun. Grab the mic and sing your heart out at karaoke night. From cheesy throwbacks to guilty pleasures, it’s the perfect way to bond with your crew and wrap up the day on a high.
Day 6
Tea Ceremony, Kiyomizu-dera Temple & Gion Tour
We’re starting the day with a dose of Kyoto magic at a Camellia Tea Ceremony. Watch the art of matcha come to life as your host whisks, pours and serves with elegance, then give it a go yourself and enjoy your creation with delicate Japanese sweets. Feeling extra fancy? Slip into a kimono and make the moment picture perfect.
Next, we’ll head to the breathtaking Kiyomizu dera Temple. With its dramatic wooden stage, sweeping hillside views and centuries of history, this UNESCO World Heritage site is pure Kyoto perfection. Afterward, take some time to explore the charming streets nearby and grab a tasty local lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll wander through Kyoto’s most enchanting neighbourhoods. Join a guided tour through Gion to uncover the stories of geisha and the district’s rich traditions, then wander along Pontocho Alley, a lantern lit lane filled with teahouses, riverside dining and that old world Kyoto charm.
The evening is yours to explore. Whether it’s sampling street eats at Nishiki Market, shopping along Teramachi, stepping into samurai and ninja history, or catching the GEAR non-verbal theatre show, Kyoto has something for everyone tonight.
Day 7
Kyoto Your Way - Fushimi Inari Sunrise & Bamboo Forest Visit
Today’s all about freedom to explore Kyoto your way. Catch the sunrise weaving through the endless red gates of Fushimi Inari, wander the peaceful gardens of Nijo Castle, marvel at the shimmering Golden Pavilion, or lose yourself in the dreamy bamboo forest of Arashiyama. Feeling adventurous? Head to Nara to meet its famously friendly deer. Prefer a slower start? A relaxed morning in Kyoto is just as magical – but trust us, that Fushimi Inari sunrise is worth the early wake up call.
By the afternoon, we’ll be back with your Adventure Leader zipping to Hiroshima on the bullet train. Tonight, we’ll tuck into a local favourite together – Hiroshima’s legendary okonomiyaki, a savoury pancake layered with flavour and best enjoyed with the whole crew.
Day 8
Miyajima Island, Mt Misen Ropeway & Hiroshima Memorial
First stop today is Miyajima, a picture-perfect island that feels straight out of a postcard. As the ferry glides across the bay, you’ll spot the famous floating torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine rising from the water – one of Japan’s most breathtaking sights. We’ll explore the shrine grounds before heading up Mt. Misen by ropeway. Ride it both ways for sweeping views or embrace your adventurous side and hike back down through the lush forest trails.
Later, we’ll return to Hiroshima to visit the Peace Memorial Museum with an audio guide. It’s a deeply moving experience that shares powerful stories of hope, resilience and remembrance.
Day 9
Osaka Bound - Kurashiki Bikan Quarter & Korakuen Garden
All aboard the bullet train – today we’re heading to Okayama. First stop is the Kurashiki Bikan Quarter, a picture-perfect district where time seems to stand still. Stroll along charming canals lined with willow trees, browse traditional shops and cosy cafés, and treat yourself to something sweet from a local stall. Want to see it from a new angle? Hop on a boat ride for the ultimate view of this beautiful old merchant town.
Next, we’ll stroll through Korakuen, one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens. With its seasonal colours and timeless elegance, it’s a glimpse into the beauty of the Edo period.
By afternoon, we’re back on the bullet train and off to Osaka. After dropping bags at the hotel, the night’s yours: keep it chilled or jump straight into the neon spirit of Shinsekai. Hungry? Kushikatsu – Osaka’s famous deep-fried skewers – are calling your name.
Day 10
Shinsaibashi, Dotonbori Boat Cruise & Final Dinner
On your final day in Japan, we’ll ease into things with a stroll down Shinsaibashi, Osaka’s lively shopping street filled with quirky stores, tasty snacks and plenty of photo-worthy corners. There’s free time here to grab lunch and hunt down those last-minute souvenirs.
In the afternoon, we’ll swap the streets for the water with a Dotonbori boat cruise. Sail past Osaka’s neon lights and take in the city from a whole new angle.
As evening falls, we’ll come back together for a farewell dinner at a local spot – the perfect chance to share your favourite moments and celebrate an epic adventure across Japan.
Day 11
Welcome To Seoul!
This morning, you’ll travel by private transfer to the airport and take your flight to South Korea (please note the transfer and flight are unguided). Touching down in Seoul, it’s time to kick off the second leg of your epic Japan & South Korea adventure. Once you’ve landed and settled in, you’ll meet your new Adventure Leader and crew for an afternoon welcome session. It’s your chance to get clued up on Korean culture, grab some local travel tips, and get prepped for everything this exciting new country has in store.
Then it’s straight into the good stuff – food! Head out for a group dinner to bond over some seriously tasty Korean dishes (yes, the kimchi is coming). After we’ve filled up, we’re taking it up a notch – literally. Ride the cable car up Namsan Mountain and climb to the top of Seoul N Tower. Expect next-level views, epic photo ops, and the perfect way to wrap up your first night in Korea.
Day 12
Seoul's Royal Grandeur
This morning, you’re up bright and early to step right into a slice of Korean history, with a visit to the remarkable Gyeongbokgung Palace. Watch the colourful Royal Guard Changing Ceremony in action, then, if you wish, you can rent a traditional hanbok at your own expense as you wander the palace’s grand courtyards and hidden corners.
By lunchtime, you’ll be ready to tuck into something special: samgye-tang, a comforting chicken ginseng soup, in the charming Bukchon Hanok Village. After that, lose yourself in the village’s maze-like lanes or browse the treasures of Insadong Art Street – think antique stores, cosy teahouses, and local handcraft shops.
In the evening, grab some dinner and get ready for a true Korean tradition – an optional group karaoke night. Be prepared for the wild songs, belly laughs, and the chance to discover your inner K-pop star (maybe?).
Day 13
DMZ Insights & Seoul's Vibrant Nights
This morning, we’re heading out on a half-day adventure to one of the most intriguing places in Korea – the DMZ. Here, you’ll uncover fascinating stories from the country’s history right at the border with North Korea. Peer through binoculars at the distant villages from Dora Observatory, then venture into the Third Tunnel – dug by North Koreans – bringing you within just 200 metres of the border. Before we head back to Seoul, you’ll get an unforgettable chance to chat with a North Korean defector in an open Q&A session.
After such an eye-opening morning, we’ll slow the pace with a wander through Hongdae – Seoul’s youthful, creative hub packed with street art, live music, quirky cafes, and indie boutiques.
As the sun sets, we’ll turn up the energy in Myeongdong, one of the city’s most vibrant districts. Feast your eyes (and your stomach) on street food stalls, shop to your heart’s content, and then settle in for Nanta Show – high-energy, comedic cooking-themed performance with drumming, acrobatics, and (a lot) of audience interaction!
Day 14
KTX to Gyeongju & Ancient Wonders by Bike
This morning, you’ll depart from Seoul by KTX, bound for Gyeongju – Korea’s former capital and a city bursting with history! We’ll arrive around lunchtime, giving you a couple of hours to grab a bite and explore the streets at your own pace.
In the late afternoon, we’ll hop on bikes for a tour of Gyeongju’s most iconic sights. Pedal your way past the Chunmachong Ancient Tombs, wander through Daereungwon Tumuli Park, and check out Cheomseongdae – the oldest astronomical observatory in East Asia.
As night falls, get ready for a dining experience that’s a true taste of Korean culture – a traditional set meal in a Hanok, paired with a sampling of traditional Korean liquor. Afterwards, we’ll head to the stunning Anapji Pond – a serene, illuminated palace garden – to admire its shimmering night-time reflections before returning to your Hanok stay – the perfect spot to rest up for tomorrow’s adventures!
Day 15
Golgulsa Temple Zen, Archery & Busan Bound
We’ll leave the city behind this morning and make our way to the stunning Golgulsa Temple, surrounded by sweeping mountain views. Here, you’ll experience a whole new side of Korean culture as you learn about centuries-old Buddhist traditions.
We’ll dive right into temple life with a calming meditation session, an energising sunmudo martial arts class, and even an archery lesson – all rounded off with a wholesome Buddhist vegetarian dinner.
Afterwards, it’s back on the bus and onwards to Busan! We’ll check into our hotel this evening, ready to soak up the energy of this vibrant seaside city tomorrow.
Day 16
Busan's Coastal Charms & Colourful Villages
We’re kicking off the day with one of Korea’s most breathtaking temples – Haedong Yonggungsa. Perched dramatically on a cliffside with waves crashing below, it’s a view you won’t forget.
Next up is Gamcheon Culture Village – often referred to as the ‘Machu Picchu of Busan’. Take some time here to explore the rainbow-painted houses, quirky art installations, and hidden cafes under your own steam, before we head to the Songdo Marine Cable Car for spectacular sea views! Afterwards, we’ll head to BIFF Square – Busan’s bustling hub for cinema lovers.
Your evening is free to spend however you like, but why not keep the energy going with a few drinks in lively Haeundae alongside your fellow travellers?
Day 17
Korean Cooking & Coastal Relaxation
After a slightly more leisurely start to the day, you’ll meet your group in the mid-morning to head to your next unmissable experience: a traditional cooking class! Learn how to whip up classic dishes – like traditional Korean bibimbap or gimbap – and then enjoy your creations for lunch.
The afternoon is yours to make the most of Busan. Unwind at a jjimjilbang (Korean spa) for some well-earned pampering, stretch out on one of the city’s golden beaches, or take a refreshing dip in the ocean. Feeling creative? Try your hand at a traditional pottery-making class*.
As the sun sets, we’ll turn up the fun with an evening boat party, cruising past glittering harbour views. If you’re still in the mood to celebrate, join your group in Haeundae for a night of great food, drinks, and dancing.
*This activity must be booked in advance
Day 18
Jeju Island Bound & Coastal Fishing
This morning, we’re jetting off to the final stop of your Japan and South Korea Premium Tour: the stunning Jeju Island! We’ll get you there by early afternoon, with just enough time to drop your bags and take a breather before heading straight to the coast for a fishing trip with a twist. Climb aboard a yacht, cast your line, and see if you can reel in your own catch.
The evening is yours to discover Jeju at your own pace – wander the streets, check out the local dining scene, and enjoy your first night with the island’s unique charm.
Day 19
Jeju's Natural Wonders & Farewell BBQ
This morning, lace up your walking shoes – we’re setting out to explore Jeju’s wild beauty along the Olle Trail No. 7. Wander lush green paths, follow dramatic coastal walks, and stop at the stunning Jeongbang Waterfall before snapping that perfect photo at the famous Oedolgae Rock.
The afternoon is yours to choose your own adventure:
Hike to the summit of Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak), a UNESCO-listed volcanic crater formed over 5,000 years ago. Stroll through Sangumburi Crater, now a flourishing botanical haven. Step back in time at Jeju Folk Village, with over 100 recreated 19th-century island homes.
For our final night together in Korea, we’ll gather for a sizzling Korean BBQ feast – the perfect way to toast unforgettable memories before heading back to Seoul tomorrow.
