Here are our most common questions and answers.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. All travellers require travel insurance before the start date. You will be asked for insurance details pre-departure and our guides may ask upon arrival too.

What travel insurance do I need?

I am afriad we cannot offer advise to any customer about the travel insurance they require. We recommend contacting a trusted travel insurance provider.

Do you sell travel insurance?

No, we do not sell travel insurance.

Will I need a Visa?

I am afraid we cannot advise any guest on visa requirements. We recommend you visit your national foreign office for the latest advise.

How big are the groups?

Most of our small-group trips run with around 14 travellers, though it varies by trip — some are more intimate and a few are slightly larger. The trip page always shows the maximum group size so you know before you book.

Do I have to be experienced or super-fit to travel with you?

No. We grade trips by activity level so there's something for everyone, from relaxed sightseeing with light walking to demanding high-altitude treks. Each trip page shows its difficulty rating, and we're happy to talk you through what a trip actually involves before you commit.

How do I book a trip?

You can book online or over the phone with one of our specialists. If you'd like advice first — on dates, difficulty, flights or which trip fits you best — just get in touch and we'll help you choose before anything is confirmed.

How far in advance should I book?

The popular trips and peak departures (Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro, the Inca Trail, Christmas/New Year and summer dates) fill up months ahead, and some — like the Inca Trail — depend on limited government permits, so earlier is safer. That said, we can often find space for closer departures too, so it's always worth asking.

Can I book a trip for a private group, family or special occasion?

Yes. Many adventures can be arranged as a private departure for your own group — great for families, friends, clubs or milestone celebrations. Get in touch with your group size and preferred dates and we'll put options together.

Can I add extra nights, tours or activities before or after the trip?

Usually, yes. We can often arrange pre- and post-trip accommodation, transfers, excursions and extensions so your whole trip is booked in one place. Just ask when you enquire or book.

I've found the trip on the operator's own website — why book through you?

You get the same trip, plus impartial advice across many operators, help with flights and extras, our price pledge, flexible payment options, ATOL and ABTA protection, and a UK team to support you throughout. There's no premium for booking with us.

How much deposit do I need to pay?

Deposits vary by trip and operator, and are shown when you book. Some trips can be held with our reserve-now-pay-later option before any deposit is due. We'll always confirm the exact deposit and balance-due date in writing before you commit.

When is the balance due?

The final balance is typically due a set number of weeks before departure (commonly around 8–12 weeks, though it varies by trip). Your booking confirmation shows your exact balance-due date, and we'll remind you in good time.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. We offer interest-free monthly payment plans that let you spread the cost between booking and departure, with no extra charge. Ask us and we'll set up a schedule that works for you.

Are your prices per person?

Yes, prices are shown per person and, unless stated otherwise, are based on two people sharing. Solo travellers and those wanting their own room should check the single/solo room options below.

Do prices change, and will mine go up after I book?

The price we confirm at booking is the price of your trip. Any optional extras you add later are quoted separately. If you're ever unsure, ask us and we'll set out exactly what you've paid and what remains.

Do you price match?

Yes. If you find the same trip cheaper elsewhere, we'll do our best to match it. We just need to see it — send us a screenshot showing the identical trip, with the same operator and the same departure date, and once we've confirmed it's genuinely the same trip we offer, we'll look to match the price.

Why do you need a screenshot?

So we can be sure we're comparing like for like — the same operator, itinerary and exact dates — rather than a similar-looking but different trip. Prices and availability change constantly, so a quick screenshot lets us verify and sort it out fast.

Do you have discount or voucher codes?

The best way to get the keenest price is to talk to us and use our price pledge — if you've seen the same trip cheaper, show us and we'll try to match it. If any seasonal offers are running, we'll always let you know.

Is my money protected?

Yes. We're an ABTA Member (P8142), which gives you protection and support for your booking, and we hold an ATOL licence (11740), which financially protects the flight-inclusive packages we arrange. Booking with a protected company means your money and your trip are safeguarded if something goes wrong.

Can I travel solo?

Yes — solo travellers are very welcome and make up a large share of small-group adventurers. Joining a group is one of the best ways to travel alone without being alone: you get built-in company, a guide handling the logistics, and shared experiences, while keeping your independence.

Will I have to pay a single supplement?

It depends. Many trips are priced on two sharing, and as a solo traveller you can usually either share a twin room with another same-gender solo traveller at no extra cost, or pay a single supplement to guarantee your own room. We'll always tell you the options and cost before you book.

Are your trips good for meeting people?

Very. Small-group adventures naturally bring together like-minded people who share a love of travel and the outdoors, and many travellers leave with lasting friendships. Trips draw a mix of solos, couples and friends.

Do you have trips for specific age groups?

Yes. Alongside our mixed-age trips (which typically attract a broad range of adults), we offer age-specific departures such as 18-to-30s trips for younger travellers and trips aimed at those in their 40s and beyond, so you can choose the group vibe that suits you.

Is there an age limit?

Minimum and maximum ages vary by trip and operator — some have a minimum age, and more demanding treks may have fitness rather than strict age limits. Family-friendly and youth-focused options exist too. Check the trip page or ask us for the specific trip you're interested in.

Can children or families come?

On many trips, yes — we have family-suitable adventures with appropriate minimum ages, and can arrange private family departures. Let us know your children's ages and we'll point you to trips that work.

How do I know how hard a trip is?

Every trip has an activity/difficulty grading on its page, from gentle and leisurely through to strenuous high-altitude expeditions, along with details of daily distances, terrain and what to expect. If you're unsure whether a trip is within your reach, ask us.

How should I train or prepare?

For active and trekking trips, building up your walking and general fitness in the months beforehand makes a big difference to your enjoyment. We can advise on what a specific trip demands, and many operators provide a kit list and training guidance once you've booked.

What is altitude like on trips such as Everest Base Camp or Kilimanjaro?

High-altitude treks are demanding and itineraries are built with acclimatisation days to help your body adjust. No prior experience is usually required, but a good level of fitness helps, and guides monitor the group carefully. We'll talk you through what to expect before you book.

Do I need vaccinations or malaria precautions?

Possibly, depending on the destination. Vaccination and antimalarial requirements are a medical matter, so we recommend seeing your GP or a travel health clinic well in advance of departure for advice tailored to you and your itinerary.

How safe are your trips?

Safety is central to how our operating partners run trips — experienced guides, sensible itineraries and established safety procedures. We also recommend following official FCDO advice for your destination. If you ever have concerns about a specific trip or region, talk to us.

What happens if I have a medical condition?

Please tell us and the operator about any medical conditions when you book, so we can advise on suitability and ensure the ground team is aware. Some trips (particularly high-altitude or remote ones) are more demanding, and being upfront helps us keep you safe and matched to the right trip.

What if there's an emergency while I'm away?

Your trip has local guides and operator support on the ground, and you'll travel with emergency contact details. This is also exactly why comprehensive travel insurance is essential (see below) — it covers medical care and repatriation if the worst happens.

Can I change my booking after I've booked?

Often, yes — dates, extras and sometimes trips can be amended depending on how far ahead you are and the operator's terms. Amendment fees may apply. Get in touch as early as possible and we'll tell you exactly what's possible for your booking.

What information will I get before I travel?

After booking you'll receive your confirmation and, in the run-up to departure, trip-specific joining instructions — a kit list, itinerary detail, meeting/arrival information, and practical guidance on money, tipping, health and what to expect.

How do I meet the group and guide?

Your joining instructions explain exactly where and when the trip starts — usually at a designated hotel or meeting point in the start city — and how to reach it. Your guide leads a welcome meeting at the start so everyone gets to know each other.

Can you help with pre-trip hotels and airport transfers?

Yes, in most cases — we can add extra nights and transfers so you arrive relaxed and everything is arranged in advance. Just ask when booking.
