The Pros and Cons of Group Tours

The Pros and Cons of Group Tours

Often people might think a group tour is for the ‘old’ and not a very hip thing to do. Wrong! There are loads of small group tours which are fantastic and adventurous. However, there can be pros and cons to travelling with a group of strangers vs. travelling on your own.
Here is a list of both Pros and Cons of group travel to consider:
The Pros
- There are loads of people to meet! This means you can always talk and probably have a laugh.
- There are people to share experiences with, not to be underrated.
- Help is always on hand and someone to take your picture should you need it.
- You might make friends for life.
- Its cheaper! you can share rooms etc, which brings the cost down a lot.
- You may have a local guide and get to see things you’d otherwise miss.
- Its much more efficient as you’re not waiting around for transport or trying to work out where to go.
- Less planning required - a bit lazy I know!
- Someone will always be on hand to take your picture.
The Cons
- You might want time alone which can sometimes be difficult on a group tour.
- You might not get on with everyone in the group.
- Sharing a room can be a pain - snoring anyone?
- You don’t have full flexibility of your time or schedule.
- You can be waiting around for transport etc…
This is not a definitive list of course, there are probably more Pros and Cons to the debate of group vs solo travel so please add more in the comments below! What is true is that having a good local guide is priceless. They make the entire journey much more enjoyable and will deliver experiences to be remembered for life, and with group travel you can share these!
