Tuscany Cycling Holidays
Cycling holidays in Italy are spectacular because there is so much variety to choose from and maybe Tuscany is the most beautiful area of all. From the sprawling Cyrpres tress to the hidden farm houses serving local food and the empty roads and tracks, an idyllic cycling experience awaits.
You don't need to be an expert or experienced cyclist to enjoy our cycling holidays. The vast majority of our cycling holidays to Italy are designed for everyone and anyone of average fitness levels. We have a mix of guided and self guided and for each you can download a free brochure from our website.
It's also worth nothing that our guided cycling holidays are very much suited to solo travellers. A high proportion of people who book with The Adventure People are solo travellers and we can help with any questions.
If you'd like to find our more or chat about the options available then please don't hesitate to contact our expert team as we're only too happy to help.

How Fit Do I Need To Be?
You can asses how challenging the ride may be via the Physical Rating from 1 (low) to 5 (challenging). Most of our cycling holidays in Tuscany are suitable for those of average fitness, the mountain region ones though are tougher! If in doubt please do contact our team and we can help!
Getting There
There are (usually) many flights from many airports to lots of regions in Italy but for Tuscany you are best to go to Pisa or Florence although Rime is not too much of a push and has much more flights in/ out. Pending where you're flying from and flying to you should easily be able to find a low cost flight where ever you are in the UK or indeed Europe.
If you're arriving from outside Europe you may need an internal flight from your arrival airport to a regional airport closer to your start point.
Best Time To Go?
It really depends on which cycling holiday you're going to enjoy. A broad suggestion would be to go for Spring or late Summer into Autumn for two main reasons:
- The weather won't be as hot and thus easier to walk and
- There will be fewer people as you're out of high season
However, it may suit you to travel in summer or indeed winter. Your packing list may change pending the season so please do check with us if in doubt. The other item to consider is that during low season, out of summer there may be fewer fights.
Money
The currency of Italy is the Euro. Cards and cash are accepted all over the country and islands. Small cafes and shops will 99% of the time accept most cards and card machines are plentiful. The cities are of course a little more expensive than the 'wild' places you may be visiting!
Solo Travellers
Many of our customers are solo travellers. Each of our adventures are designed to accommodate solo travellers and on most departures a number of travellers will be solo (we can always find out for you, just ask!).
If you're a solo traveller more often than not you'll have the choice to either share with someone of the same gender or book your own room. Sometimes your own room may cost a little more.
How Do Cycling Holidays Work?
It really depends on which type you're going for, guided or self guided.
Guided
You will join a small group at the starting hotel. On the evening of day one you'll meet your guide and group whom you'll be cycling with. On most trips your luggage will be taken ahead each morning to your next stop and you'll carry a day pack. Sometimes meals are included, if not you'll purchase along the way and your guide will provide choices and places of where to eat. You either travel from point A to point B over the duration of your holiday or your start and end at the same place.
Self Guided
Is of course much the same as guided but you'll have no guide and it will be up to you to follow the route and make sure you find somewhere to eat!
Who Goes On Cycling Holidays?
A huge variety of people. Typically ages range from early 20s to late 70s with a mix of gender and couples and solo travellers. We can find out the make up of any group for you before you make your booking, just ask our team. You don't need to be an avid cyclist or own any lycra to enjoy most of our cycling holidays.
What Gear Do I Need?
This depends upon the cycling holiday you're taking. Most of our brochures contain a packing list which will give you a complete guide, you can download as many brochures as you like.
The essentials though are walking shows, hat, sun cream, day pack, water bottle, camera, sun glasses and sun cream as well as insect spray!
Please note that wearing a cycling helmet is compulsory on all of our cycling holidays.
Do I get Any Free Time?
Yes. You can of course take time walking alone but in the evenings there isn't any pressure to mix with the group, the choice is really yours.
Can I Bring My Own Bike?
You can yes but please let us know at the time you're making your booking. You will of course be responsible for transporting your bike to and from the start and end points.
