Summary
Embark on this 2-day tour from Marrakech into the landscapes of southern Morocco. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou before continuing through Ouarzazate and the scenic Draa Valley to Zagora. Enjoy a camel trek across the desert dunes and spend the night in a traditional Berber camp under the stars. The journey ends with a desert sunrise before travelling back through the Atlas Mountains and returning to Marrakech in the evening.
Itinerary
Day 1
Marrakech to the Sahara Desert
Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou –Ouarzazate –Agdez – Zagora. Arrive in Marrakech the day before the start of the tour. You will be picked up on the morning of Day 1 at 7 AM, when we depart from Marrakech.
We cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with a stop to explore the village of Ait Benhaddou. We then continue to Ouarzazate, where there will be time for lunch next to the famous Kasbah of Taourirt.
In the afternoon, we travel south through the Draa Valley before reaching the desert, where we take a camel trek during the Saharan sunset. At the end of the day we arrive at the desert camp, where we have dinner and spend the night in tents.
Day 2
Journey Back to Marrakech
Zagora - Agdez Valley - Ounila - Marrakech. Early this morning, we wake to watch the sunrise over the desert dunes of Zagora, as the sun rises behind the mountains and across the sand. After sunrise, we return to the camp where a traditional breakfast is served. We then take the camels back to continue our return journey.
We travel through the Draa Valley, passing Agdez and the Anti-Atlas Mountains, before reaching Ouarzazate. From here, we continue along the road leading through the Ounila Valley and the Kasbah of the Glaoui in Telouet, with time for lunch along the way.
In the afternoon we continue towards Marrakech, arriving at around 7 PM, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation, marking the end of the tour.
