If Morocco's picturesque blue city of Chefchaouen doesn't leave you breathless, the bustling medinas of Fès just might.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Barcelona

    Arrive at any time.

Because first impressions matter, begin your journey the right way - by heading out with your CEO and group for drinks. Explore and unwind in Barcelona’s most renowned neighbourhoods for nightlife - El Raval, El Born, or The Gothic Quarter. We highly recommend arriving a day early to experience all that this incredible city has to offer.

Please note: if popular sights like La Sagrada Família or Parc Güell are on your must-see list in Barcelona, we highly recommend purchasing tickets online several months prior to your trip to guarantee admission.

  • Day 2

    Barcelona/Madrid

Enjoy an orientation walk along Las Ramblas. Take some time to visit the Gaudí buildings, or explore the Gothic Quarter before boarding an afternoon train to Madrid.

  • Day 3

    Madrid

Enjoy Spain's beautiful capital on an orientation walk. Free time to visit its many sites, from art museums to sprawling squares. Enjoy a night out with the group. Madrid's nightlife is world renowned!

  • Day 4

    Madrid/Granada

Transfer to Granada in the morning, then dive into the city's vibrant life with an afternoon orientation walk.

  • Day 5

    Granada

Enjoy a free day in Granada. Opt to relax in one of the many hammam baths around town. In the evening, join your group for a tapas bar crawl. First drink's on us! A trip to Granada wouldn't be the same without a night on the town; the city is filled with trendy tapas bars and has a lively music scene.

  • Day 6

    Granada/Seville

Journey to Seville and take an orientation walk with your CEO before some free time to explore. Opt to visit the Real Alcázar, a Moorish palace, or take in an evening flamenco show.

  • Day 7

    Seville/Lagos

Cross into Portugal, and enjoy the Algarve Coast.

  • Day 8

    Lagos

Spend the day on the Algarve with free time for hiking, water activities, or chilling out oceanside.

  • Day 9

    Lagos/Lisbon

Journey up the coast to Portugal's vibrant capital, and enjoy an orientation walk. Free time to visit Cristo Rei for sweeping views of the area, check out the monuments of the Belem neighbourhood, or relax in a café. Indulge in the town's great nightlife on your Big Night Out.

  • Day 10

    Lisbon/Casablanca

Fly to Casablanca and enjoy free time in Morocco's largest city. Today, new travellers may join you for the rest of your adventure. You are welcome to join them at a group meeting this evening.

  • Day 11

    Casablanca/Chefchaouen

With a good night's sleep behind you, set out from Casablanca. With the bright blue waters of the Atlantic to your left and the sun drenched wonders of Morocco to your right, travel up the coast to Morocco's capital city, Rabat. Stretch your legs as you wander the ramparts and colourful alleys of the city's old quarter. Take in breathtaking views from Kasbah des Oudaias, then indulge in lunch. After you've eaten the hangry away, continue toward Chefchaouen. Here, beneath the soaring Rif mountains, feeling the blues takes on a different meaning. Take an orientation walk through the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen before settling in for the night.

  • Day 12

    Chefchaouen

Hoping for free time to explore all Chefchaouen has to offer? Wish granted! Spend your day taking in the splendor of the city and it's surrounding geography. If the (Rif) Mountains are calling, you should definitely answer. Opt to pre-book the Rif Valley Mountains Hike. Or, later opt to visit the Spanish Mosque for breathtaking sunset views of the city.

  • Day 13

    Chefchaouen/Fès

Fès awaits! Upon arrival, put your free time to good use by visiting an Amazigh (or Berber) pharmacy (a far cry from the kind of pharmacy you may be used to at home). Wander the many mazes of Fès's colourful, ancient tanneries.

  • Day 14

    Fès

With so much to see, another free day in Fès is always a good idea. Breathe in decadent spices (oxygen is for the weak anyway, right?) as you sample treats from the many food carts scattered throughout the medina. Explore the artisan quarters as you take in the city that is often referred to as the cultural heart of Morocco.

  • Day 15

    Fès/Marrakech

After getting back on the road and watching the scenery roll by, arrive in vibrant, bustling Marrakech. Spend the evening exploring the gardens, souks, and other wonders of Marrakech.

  • Day 16

    Marrakech

Parting is such sweet sorrow, but perhaps consider booking a few extra nights in Marrakech to experience the city further. Opt to get up early and catch the sunrise over Marrakech by pre-booking the Hot Air Balloon excursion. Please ensure you allow enough time to return from the activity when planning your onward journey.

Essential trip information

Our Important Notes and Packing List cover all essentials, from necessary equipment to inclusions, ensuring you're fully equipped and informed for this extraordinary adventure and more.

Frequently asked questions

  • What type of accommodation is provided on this tour?

In Europe, accommodation is typically in multi-share hostels with 4-6 people, often with shared bathroom facilities. In Morocco, you will stay in simple hotels in twin-share rooms.
  • Are solo travelers required to pay an extra cost for accommodation?

No, solo travelers are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip, without an additional single supplement. If you book the 'My Own Room' option, you will receive your own single room for all night stops.
  • What meals are included in the tour price?

The tour includes 6 breakfasts. Other meals are generally not included to allow for flexibility in dining choices, and your CEO can suggest local options. Moroccan breakfasts are typically simple, like a croissant or sweet roll with jam and instant coffee.
  • What is the typical group size for this tour?

The maximum group size is 16 people for the Spain and Portugal portions, and 14 for the Morocco portion, with an average of 10 travelers.
  • Who will be leading the tour?

The trip is accompanied by a Chief Experience Officer (CEO) throughout, who acts as the group coordinator and manager. Certified local city guides are also used in specific locations for more detailed knowledge.
  • What modes of transportation are used during the tour?

Transportation includes local buses, trains, private vehicles (minivans in Morocco), metro, taxis, and walking. Travelers should be prepared to carry their own bags short distances and lift them on and off transport.
  • What should I know about transportation in Morocco?

The Morocco portion involves fast-paced travel with some long days in a minivan. Legroom may be smaller than usual, and seat belts may not be equipped as it is not a legal requirement. Minivan air conditioning may not fully cool the vehicle during very hot summer temperatures (up to 50°C).
  • What currency should I bring for the tour, and how should I manage my money?

For Europe, Euros are the local currency. For Morocco, the local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD), but Euros, GBP, and USD are commonly accepted for exchange. It's best to use a combination of cash and debit/credit cards, and always carry an emergency fund.
  • Is tipping customary on this tour?

Yes, tipping is customary and expected in both Europe and Morocco. Guidelines are provided for wait staff, local guides (e.g., €6-8 per day in Europe, $3 USD per day in Morocco), and your CEO (€42-€56 per person per week in Europe, $35-40 USD per person per week in Morocco).
  • Is travel insurance required for this trip?

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory and must cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and repatriation with a minimum coverage of USD200,000. Coverage for personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and luggage loss is strongly recommended.
  • What should I know about safety and security on the trip?

It's recommended to use a neck wallet or money belt for valuables, leave valuable jewelry at home, and utilize hotel safety deposit boxes. For free time, especially at night, it's advisable to stay in small groups and use taxis. Your CEO has the authority to amend the itinerary for safety reasons. Swimming and water-based activities are undertaken at your own risk.
  • What is the dress code for religious sites and generally in Morocco?

When visiting mosques and religious monuments, modest dress is required (shoulders and knees should be covered). Outside of major cities and tourist centers in Morocco, local dress is often more conservative, so loose-fitting clothes with covered shoulders are recommended out of respect.
  • What are the main highlights of this tour?

This tour highlights include exploring Barcelona and Madrid at your own pace, a tapas bar crawl in Granada, winding through the alleyways of Seville, relaxing on the beautiful Algarve coast in Lagos, taking selfies in the blue city of Chefchaouen, and exploring the vibrant markets and artisan quarters of Fès.
  • Is it necessary to pre-book tickets for popular attractions?

Yes, for popular sights like La Sagrada Família or Parc Güell in Barcelona, and the Alhambra in Granada, it is highly recommended to purchase tickets online several months in advance, especially during high season (May-October), to guarantee admission.
  • What happens if the trip coincides with Ramadan or Aid Al-Adha?

During Ramadan, some services may have limitations, but tours generally operate effectively, and food is available for non-Muslims. Increased cultural sensitivity (modest dress, avoiding eating/drinking/smoking in public) is important. During Aid Al-Adha, most shops and restaurants may be closed, and historical sites might also be affected.
  • Can I do laundry during the trip?

Laundry facilities are offered by some accommodations for a charge. You may also need to do your own laundry, so bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap is suggested. Your CEO can also guide you to local laundry services.
