On our second day in Korea, we depart early for the Cheorwon region to visit the DMZ, the vital buffer zone that divides the two Koreas. Our exploration begins with the Second Tunnel, clandestinely excavated by the North Korean army and unearthed in 1975. We then make our way to the Cheorwon Peace Observatory, offering sweeping vistas of the DMZ and the initial villages within North Korea. The observatory also houses a compact museum dedicated to the Korean War. Our tour continues with a stop at the deserted Woljeong-ri railway station and a visit to the Baek Ma Battle Memorial, which commemorates the service of a French battalion during the conflict. We'll enjoy an included lunch before visiting a local Makgeolli producer, where we'll learn about this traditional Korean rice liquor. We return to Seoul in the evening. Please remember to bring your passport, as entry to the DMZ requires it. Kindly note that the DMZ is a military zone which can close unexpectedly; if so, an alternative route will be provided.

Back in Seoul, we head to City Hall to admire its striking wave-like architecture. Across the road, Deoksugung Palace is beautifully illuminated in the evening, presenting an artful fusion of tradition with modernity. We then stroll to Myeongdong, South Koreas largest shopping and entertainment district, meaning bright town. Dinner is provided at a local restaurant, and we conclude the day by taking the modern and efficient metro back to the hotel.
