Summary
Explore Cotopaxi National Park with a full-day excursion. Admire the Cotopaxi volcano and the stunning plateau on which it sits — you might even see wild horses grazing! All ages are welcome to hike the glacier, and experienced cyclists can opt to bike.

Day 1
Cotopaxi National Park
Hike starts at 4500 meters above sea level and climbs up to 4864 meters at the Refugio. From there it's about another 45 minute hike before you arrive at the Glacier at 5000 meters. To avoid the possibility of altitude sickness we recommend acclimating before attempting this hike.

I had a great time climbing Cotopaxi and staying in the amazon. It was a great trip. The only comment I would make just for future reference- I was the only young female in the group (I'm 24yrs). The rest of my group in the amazon consisted of 60-70yr old females. It was still a great time, just a little surprising at first. I had a great time exploring G adventures is a well organized company and I had a great time. Not once did I feel unsafe with the group.

This was a series of expeditions and exploration. Every guide from Fillepe to Adrian to Alex was not only the consummate professional, but could share knowledge about: - geology - geography - history - flora - fauna - biochemistry (that was a shocker, to be fair... didn't expect our guide to absolutely drop some PhD level knowledge about the 3rd form of photosynthesis)
