Summary
This 4-day tour starts in Athens and finishes back there, offering a fantastic mix of history, culture and stunning landscapes. You’ll explore iconic archaeological sites like Mycenae and Olympia – the birthplace of the Olympic Games – before heading to Delphi’s ancient sanctuary and museum. The journey continues to Kalambaka, where the dramatic Meteora monasteries perched on towering rocks provide unforgettable views. Along the way, enjoy scenic drives through charming towns and impressive landmarks such as the Corinth Canal and the bridge over Corinthian Bay. It’s a perfect blend of ancient wonders and breathtaking scenery at a relaxed pace.
Itinerary
Day 1
Travel to Olympia & Explore Ancient Greece
We collect you early from your hotel in Athens and set off along the coastal road to the Corinth Canal, where we pause briefly to admire this impressive engineering feat. Continuing on, we visit the Theatre of Epidauros, renowned for its exceptional acoustics.
Next, we stop in the charming town of Nauplion for a short photo opportunity before driving to Mycenae to explore the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. From there, we travel through the heart of the Peloponnese, passing the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis, before arriving in Olympia. Here, you will enjoy dinner and spend the night in the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
Day 2
Explore Olympia & Continue to Delphi
After breakfast, we explore the Archaeological Site of Olympia, including the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum. Later, we travel through the plains of Ilia and Achaia, crossing the impressive Rion-Antirion Bridge over the Corinthian Gulf. We pass the charming towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) and Itea before arriving in Delphi for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Uncover Delphi & Transfer to Meteora
After breakfast, we explore the Archaeological Site and Museum of Delphi, delving into the rich history of this ancient sanctuary. Afterwards, we travel to Kalambaka, a small town nestled at the base of Meteora’s dramatic rock formations.
Day 4
Explore Meteora & Return to Athens
After breakfast, we visit Meteora, a remarkable site where ancient monasteries sit atop towering rock formations, offering a unique glimpse of Byzantine art amid dramatic scenery. We then return to Athens, travelling through Trikala, Lamia and making a brief stop at Thermopylae to view the Leonidas Monument from across the road. You will arrive in Athens early evening.
