After passing under the Lysefjord Bridge – the gateway to the famous fjord – you’ll find yourself surrounded by steep, dramatic cliffs rising high above the water. Soon after, you’ll spot one of Norway’s most iconic landmarks – Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock – soaring 604 metres above the fjord. Lysefjord is also home to several spectacular waterfalls, including the thundering Hengjanefossen, where the captain brings the boat close enough for you to feel the refreshing spray.
In spring and summer, look out for the friendly goats grazing on the mountainsides, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot sea eagles, seals, or porpoises as you cruise through this magnificent landscape.
