Itinerary
Day 1
Transfer from Joburg to Hazyview & Night Safari
On arrival at O.R. Tambo International Airport we'll meet you and guide you to the transfer for Kruger National Park - please ensure your flight lands before 06:00 to join the service. On reaching our lodge in Hazyview, you'll have time to relax, unpack and enjoy a light lunch. You can take a swim or follow the walking trail around the grounds. We depart before 16:00 for a sunset and night safari in Kruger National Park; in winter the early sunset means a longer night drive, while in summer we enjoy the evening light before darkness falls. We return to the lodge at around 20:00 for dinner and a good night's rest.
Day 2
Full Day Safari in Kruger National Park
We set off early for a full day safari in Kruger National Park, travelling in an open safari vehicle with a specialised ranger-guide. We spend the day on game drives, keeping watch for the Big Five: elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo. We make two stops at park rest camps, breakfast is included and lunch is at your own expense. We return to the lodge around 16:00. The rest of the day is free for you to relax until dinner.
Day 3
Explore the Kruger
We set out to the Blyde River Canyon - one of the world's largest canyons, stretching over 40 km and dropping 1,200 m. From a viewpoint on the rim we take in the Three Rondavels, named for their resemblance to traditional round huts that dot rural landscapes. We then stop at God's Window, a lookout on the escarpment with a sheer drop below and, on a clear day, views reaching as far as Kruger and beyond. Bring comfortable walking shoes - the viewpoints are linked by paths and short trails, and the walk to the top takes most people around 15-20 minutes through a natural rainforest setting. We return to the lodge at around 18:00.
Day 4
Final Game Drive & Return to Johannesburg
We depart the lodge before sunrise for our final game drive. Our guide focuses on species we may have missed on earlier safaris - especially lion and leopard, which are often most active in the early morning. No two drives are the same, and Kruger's extensive road network means routes vary by season to maximise sightings. After a short breakfast and coffee stop, we continue the safari before returning to the lodge at around 11:00 am to freshen up and bid farewell to our guide. The shuttle collects us at approximately 11:30 am for the journey back to the Johannesburg O.R. Tambo shuttle terminal, arriving between 17:00-18:00.
