Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome to Puerto Maldonado
Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado—ideally before 11:00 am—we begin our journey through the Peruvian Amazon with a scenic 25-minute boat ride along the Madre de Dios River to the lodge. Take in the lush surroundings before enjoying a buffet lunch featuring local ingredients and jungle flavours. In the afternoon, we explore the Concepcion trails on foot, learning about the forest’s ecosystem, its components, and its vital role in the environment. As dusk falls, we board a motorised canoe for a river excursion to observe nocturnal wildlife and admire the clear, star-filled sky unique to the jungle. The day concludes with dinner at the lodge, where you will spend the night in Puerto Maldonado.
Day 2
Tambopata National Reserve & Inkaterra Canopy Walkway
After an early breakfast at the lodge, set off around 5:30 am for a walk through Tambopata National Reserve to Lake Sandoval, a prime example of why Madre de Dios is known as Peru’s biodiversity capital. We explore the lake by traditional canoe, gliding over its glass-like surface while spotting wildlife such as giant otters, blue-and-yellow macaws, howler monkeys, black caimans and paiche - the world’s largest scaled freshwater fish.
Return to the lodge for lunch before heading out in the afternoon to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway and Anaconda Walk. Here, we traverse suspension bridges 28 metres above the forest floor, observing toucans, hummingbirds, trogons, monkeys and sloths, while learning about the conservation efforts led by the Inkaterra Association. As night falls, prepare for a nocturnal Amazon adventure to witness the unique behaviours of wildlife after dark. Listen closely to the jungle’s sounds before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay in Puerto Maldonado.
Day 3
Goodbye Puerto Maldonado
After a final breakfast at the lodge, we travel by canoe back to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight, recommended to depart after 1:30 pm.
