    Imperial cities and Roman ruins

Casablanca - Meknes - Fes. We begin our exploration of Casablanca in the Habous district, known for its blend of traditional Moroccan architecture and French colonial design. We visit the Royal Palace, Mohamed V Square and the residential area of Anfa, before viewing the impressive Hassan II Mosque - one of the largest mosques in the world, set dramatically on the Atlantic coast.

We then travel to Meknes, the 17th-century Ismaili capital, encircled by 40 km of ramparts. Here, we see the monumental Bab Mansour gate, the Royal Stables and the historic Jewish quarter. We continue to the sacred town of Moulay Driss for panoramic views, followed by a visit to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO-listed site renowned for its mosaics. We arrive in Fez in the evening.

  • Day 3

The spiritual and cultural heart of Fes

Today we explore Fez, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural heart. We discover the medieval Medina - one of the world’s largest living historic cities - with its bustling souks and traditional craftsmen. We view the Royal Palace gates and visit either the Attarine or Bou Anania Medersa, both fine examples of Marinid architecture.

We admire the Nejjarine Fountain and see the exterior of the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum and the Karaouine Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world. You may choose to enjoy an optional lunch in a traditional restaurant within the Medina. We return to the hotel for dinner this evening.

  • Day 4

Through the Middle Atlas to the Sahara gateway

Fes - Irfane - Midelt - Erfoud. We journey south towards Erfoud, passing through Imouzzer Kandar and the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. We stop in Ifrane, a ski resort town often referred to as ‘Little Switzerland’ for its alpine-style architecture, and continue to Azrou.

In Midelt, you may opt for lunch before we travel via Errachidia and along the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its extensive palm groves and date production. We arrive in Erfoud, a town famous for fossils and as the gateway to the Sahara. Dinner is served at the hotel.
