Itinerary
Day 1
New Delhi
Welcome to Delhi, the vibrant capital of India. Upon arrival, you will be met by our tour representative who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. This city, rich in medieval history, has evolved dramatically over recent decades. Known for having seen seven cities rise and fall over millennia, Delhi offers a striking blend of ancient heritage and modern life. After settling into your hotel, we will visit the impressive Jama Masjid, Delhi’s grand Friday Mosque, renowned for its stunning architecture. To end the day, we suggest a rickshaw ride through the bustling, narrow streets of Old Delhi, providing an authentic glimpse of the city’s lively atmosphere before returning to the hotel for the night.
Day 2
Delhi
After breakfast, we begin with a drive through New Delhi, passing key landmarks such as India Gate – a war memorial honouring Indian soldiers – the President’s Residence (formerly the Viceroy’s Palace), the Parliament House and the Secretariat Buildings, which showcase a blend of Victorian and 20th-century architecture. Later, we visit Qutab Minar, an ancient archaeological site featuring a 234-foot tall, intricately carved minaret. Nearby stands the Iron Pillar, notable for its resistance to rust over 1,500 years. Continuing our journey, we travel to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as the Pink City for its broad avenues, historic forts and royal palaces constructed from distinctive pink sandstone. Upon arrival, we check in to the hotel, and you have the remainder of the day at leisure to explore or relax. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 3
Jaipur
After breakfast, we set out to explore Amer Fort, a stunning example of Rajasthan’s architecture. Here, you’ll see the Sheesh Mahal, a hall adorned with intricate mirror work imported from Belgium. On the way, we pause at Hawa Mahal, the striking ‘Palace of Winds’, perfect for photographs. In the afternoon, we visit the City Palace, the former royal residence that now partly serves as a museum while still housing Jaipur’s royal family. We then explore Jantar Mantar, the renowned stone and marble observatory that remains functional today. The day concludes with your return to the hotel in Jaipur.
Day 4
Jaipur
After breakfast, we drive to Agra, stopping en route to explore Fatehpur Sikri. This deserted city was built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 but was abandoned just 15 years later due to water shortages. Today, it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage site, offering a glimpse into Mughal history. Upon arrival in Agra, we check in to the hotel before visiting the Taj Mahal in the afternoon. This iconic monument, crafted from pristine white marble, was commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal and is often described as a ‘Love Poem in Marble’. After the visit, we return to the hotel for the evening.
Day 5
Agra
After breakfast, we visit Agra Fort, an impressive red sandstone fortress incorporating the same Makrana marble used for the Taj Mahal. Its towering battlements overlook the riverfront, where mansions of nobles and princes once stood. In the afternoon, we drive back to Delhi and check in to your hotel for the evening.
Day 6
Delhi
After breakfast, we transfer you to Delhi’s international airport for your onward flight.
