Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Welcome to Oslo!

On arrival, make your own way to the hotel for check-in or contact us to book an arrival transfer. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Enjoy!

  • Day 2

    Geilo, Flam & Voss

Oslo - Geilo - Flam - Voss. We depart early this morning for Norway’s stunning fjord region, travelling through beautiful countryside and past Lake Tyrifjord, one of Norway’s largest lakes and a vital resting site for migratory birds.

Continuing through the Hallingdal Valley, we reach Geilo to board a train to Myrdal, a mountain station about 13 kilometres from Flam. From here, we take the famous Flamsbana railway, one of the steepest in the world, descending through dramatic scenery, waterfalls, and tunnels with magnificent views throughout. Schedule permitting, you may choose to join an optional cruise from Flam to Gudvangen, sailing through the idyllic Sognefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We will meet you in Gudvangen to continue to Voss.

  • Day 3

    Gateway to the Fjords

Voss - Bergen. Today, we depart for Bergen, known as the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and European City of Culture, Bergen perfectly blends natural beauty, maritime heritage, and lively city life.

On arrival, we meet our local guide for a two-hour sightseeing tour through the city’s most iconic sites. We explore the historic Hanseatic Bryggen, with its colourful wooden wharf buildings that once housed German merchants, visit the Romanesque-style Church of Mary, and see Hakon’s Fortress, a symbol of Bergen’s medieval past. We also pass by the bustling Fish Market, one of the city’s oldest and most lively meeting places.

You may choose to join an optional visit to the Floibanen Funicular for panoramic views over the city. Alternatively, you will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore Bergen at your own pace.

  • Day 4

    Sognefjord & Briksdal Glacier

Bergen - Loen. This morning, we board our coach and head north, crossing the famous Sognefjord from Oppdal to Lavik by ferry. Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, stretching 204 kilometres inland from the coast north of Bergen.

We continue towards the impressive Briksdal Glacier, a spectacular arm of the vast Jostedalsbreen Glacier, located within Jostedalsbreen National Park. Set amidst roaring waterfalls and towering peaks, the glacier descends from 1,200 metres into the beautiful Briksdalen Valley. You can walk up to the glacier (hiking shoes required) or take a ride in one of the “Troll cars” for an additional fee.

  • Day 5

    Geirangerfjord & the Troll’s Road

Loen - Geiranger - Molde. After breakfast, we depart from Loen heading towards Geiranger, where we board a sightseeing cruise on the spectacular Geirangerfjord, one of Norway’s narrowest and dramatic fjords. Towering cliffs and cascading waterfalls line its steep sides, including the two most famous, the Seven Sisters and the Veil of the Bride.

Following the cruise, we continue north along the famous Eagle Road, the steep mountain route that winds up from Geiranger towards Eidsdal. With its series of sharp bends, the road climbs to a viewpoint 620 metres above sea level at Korsmyra, offering breathtaking views over the fjord. The road takes its name from the eagles that once soared through this area.

From Eidsdal, we take a short ferry crossing to Linge before continuing along the dramatic Troll’s Road, an impressive feat of engineering that twists through magnificent mountain scenery and offers some of Norway’s most spectacular vistas.

We then take a final short ferry from Vestnes before arriving in Molde, beautifully situated along the coast and known for its stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

  • Day 6

    The Atlantic Road to Oppdal

Molde - Otta - Oppdal. We depart from Molde, heading through the Otta region to Oppdal, travelling along the spectacular Atlantic Road. This scenic route runs between sea and land, crossing elegant bridges and low dikes at the very edge of the ocean.

A true masterpiece of engineering, the Atlantic Road was voted the “Work of Art of the Century” by the Norwegian people and ranked among the world’s most beautiful drives by The Guardian. We continue south through striking coastal and mountain scenery before arriving in Oppdal.

  • Day 7

Exploring the Olympic City & Oslo

Oppdal - Lillehammer - Oslo. This morning, we begin our journey back to Oslo, stopping briefly in Lillehammer, the charming Olympic city, where you have some free time to explore. We then continue along the scenic shores of Lake Mjosa, the largest lake in Norway.

In the afternoon, we arrive in Oslo and meet our local guide for a three-hour city tour. We explore Frogner Park, home to Gustav Vigeland’s impressive sculptures, see the elegant Royal Palace, the striking City Hall, and the historic Akershus Fortress overlooking the harbour.

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or discover more of Oslo at your own pace.

  • Day 8

FLight to Evens & Transfer to Sortland

Oslo - Evenes - Sortland. Today, we meet our tour guide in the hotel lobby for a short briefing before departing by coach at 10:00, heading to Oslo Airport for our included flight to Evenes.

Upon arrival at Evenes Airport, we will be met and transferred to our accommodation in Sortland, where the rest of the day is at leisure.

  • Day 9

    Sortland at Leisure

After breakfast, we will join an RIB or boat tour to explore the world’s largest population of white-tailed sea eagles and the world-famous Trollfjord. We will be departing at 11:00 for a two-hour excursion. Along the way, we will pass a local salmon farm and learn about the region’s birdlife, history, and natural environment.

After returning, you have free time to explore Sortland at your own pace. You may wish to experience the local culture by sampling traditional dishes such as stockfish, whale steak, or Arctic char. You can also discover the Blue Town concept with its colourful street art and local shops or visit the Sortland Museum to learn about coastal life, fishing traditions, and local history.

For those feeling adventurous, the nearby Steiroheia trail offers a rewarding hike with panoramic views over the town, fjord, and surrounding mountains.

  • Day 10

    Sortland to Svolvaer

Sortland - Lofoten - Svolvaer. Today, we depart from Sortland and travel towards Svolvaer, enjoying the stunning landscapes of the Lofoten Islands along the way. We will make a few scenic stops where you can take photos and appreciate the dramatic coastal views.

Upon arrival in Svolvaer, before checking into our accommodation, you will have the choice of several optional activities. You can join a four-hour fishing trip in the Lofoten waters, take a two-hour sea kayaking adventure from Svolvaer, or unwind with a relaxing 90-minute sauna session.

Whether you spend your time on the water or relaxing in town, this is a wonderful opportunity to experience the natural beauty and tranquillity of Lofoten.

  • Day 11

    The Viking Experience

Svolvaer - Lofoten - Svolvaer. This morning, we begin a panoramic tour of the Lofoten Islands with our tour leader. Our first stop is the Lofotr Viking Museum, where we enjoy a guided tour and step back in time to learn about the skilled craftsmen who first settled in the region.

At the museum, we discover how the Vikings lived and traded, and even have the chance to row a Viking ship. Archaeological findings reveal that stockfish, made from dried Atlantic cod (skrei) that migrates to Lofoten each winter, was first traded by the Vikings over a thousand years ago and remains a key export of the region today.

You may also choose to visit the Magic Ice Bar in Svolvaer, an optional experience featuring ice sculptures and a unique atmosphere inspired by Arctic life.

  • Day 12

    Return to Oslo

Svolvaer - Evenes - Oslo. We enjoy a free morning in Svolvaer before checking out and departing at 11:30 towards the Evenes Airport area. Our journey along the E10, a designated National Tourist Route, takes us once more through the spectacular scenery of the Lofoten Islands.

The route reveals a striking contrast of steep mountain peaks, white sandy beaches, and emerald-green sea. Along the coast, we pass charming fishing villages with their traditional red “rorbu” cabins, often built on stilts above the water.

In the late afternoon, you will take your flight back to Oslo (departure 17:15, arrival 19:00). Upon arrival, it is a short walk to your hotel, where you can check in and relax after saying goodbye to your Tour Leader.

  • Day 13
