Summary

This four-day journey takes you from Venice to Split, weaving through Croatia’s scenic coast and cultural gems. Begin with a stay in elegant Opatija, once a glamorous Habsburg-era resort, where you’ll stroll past grand villas along the Lungomare promenade. Then it’s off to the breathtaking Plitvice Lakes National Park—famous for its turquoise waters and cascading falls. End in Split with a guided tour of Diocletian’s Palace, a Roman marvel still at the city’s heart. With a mix of natural beauty and historic charm, this short tour offers a perfect snapshot of Croatia’s coastal and cultural highlights.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

Arrival in Venice - Transfer to Opatija

We begin with a pick-up from Tronchetto bus station or Venice airports (Marco Polo or Treviso), followed by a transfer to Opatija, Croatia. This elegant resort town, set on the northern Adriatic coast, is known for its grand villas and sea views.

  • Day 2

    Discovering Opatija’s Habsburg Elegance

This morning, we take a guided tour of Opatija, a historic town on Kvarner Bay often regarded as the birthplace of Croatian tourism. Once a fashionable spa destination for the Habsburgs and European elite, Opatija retains its charm with landscaped parks and Austro-Hungarian architecture. We stroll through the colourful Angiolina Park and along the Lungomare promenade, taking in coastal views and elegant 19th-century villas.

  • Day 3

Roman History and Artistic Charm in Istria

Today we explore the Istrian peninsula, starting with a visit to the 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheatre in Pula. We continue to Rovinj, a postcard-perfect coastal town often described as Istria’s most beautiful. You’ll have free time to wander its cobbled alleys, browse local galleries, or enjoy a drink at a cliffside bar. Return to Opatija for overnight.

  • Day 4

    Departure for Katarina Line Cruise

After breakfast and hotel check-out, we transfer to the Katarina Line cruise departing from Opatija.
