  • I just returned for an Everest Base Camp trek with the Adventure People. They did a fabulous job of making the climb enjoyable and safe. Our guide Pooja was fantastic and friendly as well as our porters. The office staff was very helpful, my luggage was delayed on my flight to Nepal and they were instrumental in getting that to me before the trek. I would highly recommend the Adventure People, you will not be disappointed. This is a review of The Adventure People

Frequently asked questions

  • Is this trip suitable for children of all ages?

This trip is ideal for families with children aged 6 and above. Activities like wildlife safaris, rock climbs, and cultural visits are designed to be engaging but not overly strenuous. Younger children can join too, but some elements (like the Sigiriya climb) may require adult supervision or adaptation.
  • Are the wildlife safaris safe for children?

Yes, the safaris are conducted in enclosed, professionally driven 4WD vehicles, led by trained naturalists and rangers. Children must remain seated, and parents are always advised to stay with them during the drives.
  • Are family rooms available at all hotels?

Yes. All selected accommodations offer family-friendly rooms, including triple and quad options, adjoining rooms, or villas. Most also have kid-friendly pools, play areas, or open grounds to explore.
  • What level of comfort can we expect?

This is a 4-star comfort level trip throughout, with a mix of boutique resorts, stylish hotels, and even luxury tented camping—all chosen for cleanliness, service, and family convenience. Expect private bathrooms, air conditioning, and modern amenities.
  • Are meals included, and will there be food suitable for kids?

Daily breakfasts are included, with a mix of Western and Sri Lankan options. Some dinners are also included. All hotels and restaurants cater to children with simple, familiar meals like pasta, rice, grilled chicken, and fresh fruit.
  • Are there long travel days?

A few days (like from Nuwara Eliya to Ahungalla) involve longer drives of 5–6 hours, but they are broken up with rest stops and sightseeing. The itinerary is designed to balance travel with downtime, and most transfers are done in comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicles.
  • What should we pack for our children?

Bring light clothing, hats, sunblock, mosquito repellent, sturdy shoes, and swimwear. A light rain jacket is also useful. For entertainment during travel, books, tablets, or small games come in handy. Binoculars and a camera are great for kids on safari!
  • Is Sri Lanka safe for families?

Yes, Sri Lanka is widely considered safe for family travel, especially when traveling with a reputable operator. Local people are warm, welcoming, and love children. As always, standard travel precautions apply (e.g., drinking bottled water).
  • Are any vaccinations or health precautions needed?

There are no mandatory vaccinations for Sri Lanka, but it’s recommended to consult your GP or travel clinic about routine immunizations (e.g., tetanus, hepatitis A). Malaria is not a risk in most tourist areas, but mosquito protection is advised.
  • How much spending money will we need?

Most core activities and meals are covered, but you'll want to budget for lunches, optional activities, souvenirs, snacks, and tips. A rough estimate would be £15–£25 per adult per day, and less for children. ATMs are widely available.
