Summary

Embark on a 9 day journey across Spain, where every stop reveals a new layer of the country’s rich heritage and soul-stirring landscapes. Discover the legacy of Moorish kings at the Alhambra in Granada, and wander through Toledo’s labyrinthine streets steeped in medieval history. Join us as we trace the rugged northern coast, from the elegance of San Sebastian to the artistic pulse of Bilbao. Be enchanted by hilltop villages, golden plazas, and the passion of flamenco in Seville.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Costa del Sol to Granada

    We depart Costa del Sol this morning and journey inland to Granada, one of Spain’s most enchanting cities. Upon arrival, we explore the breathtaking Alhambra and Generalife Gardens, once home to Moorish sultans. Wander through serene courtyards, ornate halls, and fragrant gardens with fountains, arched pavilions and commanding views of the city.

    Please note:This tour is bi-lingual, and will be conducted in Spanish as well as in English.  If Alhambra tickets are unavailable due to official restrictions, we’ll instead enjoy a comprehensive tour of Granada, including the Palace of Carlos V, Archaeological Museum, Church of Santa Maria de la Alhambra, Royal Chapel, and the bustling Alcaiceria and Cathedral Square.

  • Day 2

    Granada to Toledo to Madrid

    After breakfast, we travel north to the historic city of Toledo, once the capital of medieval Spain and a melting pot of Christian, Jewish and Muslim cultures. We take in panoramic views from the Mirador del Valle, then enjoy a guided walk through the old town, rich with monuments and traditions. After lunch, we continue to Madrid for an overnight stay.

  • Day 3

    Madrid to Zaragoza to San Sebastian

    We depart Madrid after breakfast and head to Zaragoza for a brief stop, before continuing on to the elegant coastal city of San Sebastian, famed for its beautiful bay, beaches, and culinary scene.

  • Day 4

    San Sebastian to Bilbao to Santander

    After breakfast, we travel to Bilbao for a short visit to admire the striking architecture of the Guggenheim Museum. We then continue to Santander, a historic port city nestled on the Bay of Biscay. There’s free time to explore at your leisure

  • Day 5

    Santander to Santillana del Mar to Covadonga to Oviedo

    Today we explore the medieval village of Santillana del Mar, a national monument in its entirety, before continuing through lush countryside to Covadonga. There’s time to visit the revered mountain shrine before arriving in Oviedo.

  • Day 6

    Oviedo to Salamanca to Madrid

    We journey south today, stopping in Salamanca to admire its golden sandstone architecture and lively Plaza Mayor. After a short visit, we return to Madrid for the night.

  • Day 7

    Madrid to Caceres to Seville

    Leaving Madrid behind, we head west to Caceres, a city frozen in time with its walled old town and medieval quarter, a designated World Heritage Site. There’s free time to stroll through its cobbled streets and admire Renaissance mansions and Moorish towers. We then travel south to Seville, capital of Andalucia. Dinner is included on arrival.

  • Day 8

    Seville

    This morning’s guided tour introduces us to Seville’s highlights - Maria Luisa Park, Plaza de Espana, the exterior of its grand Cathedral and iconic Giralda tower, and the charming Santa Cruz quarter, known for its flower-filled patios and winding lanes.You may wish to join an optional river cruise along the Guadalquivir for panoramic views of the city, or visit the Maestranza bullring. After lunch at a local restaurant, there’s an optional evening flamenco show for those wanting to immerse themselves further in Andalusian culture.

  • Day 9

    Seville to Ronda to Costa del Sol

    We depart Seville this morning and follow the scenic Route of the White Villages to Ronda, perched dramatically above a deep gorge. There’s time to explore this photogenic town at your own pace before returning to Costa del Sol, where our journey concludes.

    Please note: On most departures, the tour ends in the Costa del Sol town of Torremolinos - the exact drop off point and time will be communicated to you.
