Summary
PRIVATE TOUR: Join this 14-day tour of Egypt, starting and ending in Cairo, and experience a journey through pharaohs’ lands and timeless landscapes. Explore the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the Grand Egyptian Museum before heading to the ancient wonders of Saqqara and Coptic Cairo. Fly to Luxor to board a Nile cruise, sailing past grand temples and historic sites including Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, and Philae Temple in Aswan. Continue along the Nile to visit Kom Ombo and Edfu before returning to Luxor. Conclude with a return flight to Cairo.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Cairo!
Upon arrival in Cairo, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure. You might like to explore the city, enjoy a coffee, or simply relax and settle in.
Day 2
Giza Pyramids & Grand Egyptian Museum
Cairo - Pyramids of Giza - Cairo. Today, you'll be picked up from your hotel for a guided excursion to the Giza Plateau. Here, you'll explore the world-famous Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. You'll then visit the Great Sphinx, a limestone statue with the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, believed to represent King Chephren.
Next, you'll head to the Grand Egyptian Museum, located about 2 kilometres from the pyramid complex. Also known as the Giza Museum, it is one of the largest archaeological museums in the world and houses an extraordinary collection of artefacts, including many from the tomb of Tutankhamun. After your visit, you'll return to your hotel.
Day 3
Step Pyramid & Coptic Cairo
After breakfast, you'll be picked up from your hotel to visit Saqqara, home to the Step Pyramid of King Zoser. As the oldest known pyramid in Egypt, it marks a significant milestone in the evolution of pyramid construction.
You’ll then continue to Coptic Cairo, a historic part of the city closely linked to early Christianity. Here, you'll visit sites believed to have been visited by the Holy Family during their escape from King Herod. We will then visit the Hanging Church, St. Sergius Church, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Afterwards, we'll return to our hotel.
Day 4
Flight to Luxor & Nile Cruise to the East Banks of Luxor
Cairo - Luxor. This morning, you'll check out of the hotel, and after you will be transferred to the airport for your flight south to Luxor. On arrival, you'll be welcomed by a local representative and transferred to the Nile cruise vessel.
After settling in and having lunch on board, you'll set out to explore the East Bank of Luxor. Your guide will lead you through the vast Karnak Temple complex, followed by a visit to the beautifully lit Luxor Temple. Dinner will be served on board, where you'll spend the night docked in Luxor.
Please note: The Nile cruise itinerary may change in sequence due to navigation or other factors beyond control, but all visits will be maintained.
Day 5
The West Bank & Valley of the Kings
After breakfast, you will be picked up from the Nile Cruise, making your way to the West Bank of Luxor. Here, you will spend the day exploring the Valley of the Kings, where you will visit three tombs, excluding the Tomb of King Tutankhamun.
You will then continue to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, an impressive monument to Egypt’s most famous female pharaoh. On your way back to the city, you will stop at the Colossi of Memnon before returning to your Nile cruise ship.
Day 6
Sail to Edfu, Kom Ombo & Aswan
Luxor - Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan. This morning, you'll begin your journey south along the Nile, sailing towards Edfu. As you pass through the Esna Lock, enjoy breakfast on board while taking in views of the riverside landscape and daily life along the banks. The cruise then continues to Kom Ombo, with its striking riverside temple, before sailing onward to Aswan, where you'll arrive later in the day.
Day 7
Exploring Aswan
Today, you'll set out to discover some of Aswan’s most iconic sites. Beginning with a visit to the High Dam, an impressive structure that has helped regulate the flow of the Nile and support Egypt’s electricity supply. You’ll then continue to the island of Agilkia to explore Philae Temple, a beautifully preserved sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Isis, known for its elegant architecture and tranquil setting on the river.
Afterwards, you will be transferred back to the ship, where you can enjoy lunch and some time to relax. In the afternoon, you will have the chance to take an optional motorboat tour to a Nubian village, known for its colourful houses, lively culture and warm hospitality before making your way back to the ship.
Day 8
Day at leisure or Optional Abu Simbel
Today, you can enjoy a day at leisure on board the cruise or choose to join an optional tour to the remarkable temples of Abu Simbel. If you opt for the tour, you'll depart at around 3:30 AM with a breakfast box for the journey, which takes approximately three and a half hours by road.
At Abu Simbel, you'll visit two impressive rock-cut temples built by Ramses II, featuring colossal statues and intricate carvings. The site was famously relocated to avoid flooding from Lake Nasser. After you return to the ship where you will enjoy lunch and dinner.
Day 9
Visit Kom Ombo & Sail to Edfu
Aswan - Kom Ombo - Edfu. This morning, the ship will sail to Kom Ombo, where you'll dock to visit the unique riverside temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon-headed god Horus. Your guide will take you through the temple’s symmetrical layout and explain its fascinating dual dedication.
After the visit, you'll return to the ship and continue sailing towards Edfu, passing scenic stretches of the Nile along the way.
Day 10
Cruise from Edfu to Luxor
Today, you'll spend the day on board as the ship cruises back to Luxor. As you sail along the Nile, you can relax and take in views of rural Egyptian life – farmers tending their fields, small villages along the riverbanks, and feluccas gliding across the water. It's a peaceful stretch of the journey and a chance to enjoy the scenery at a slower pace.
Day 11
Luxor to Hurghada
Luxor - Hurghada. After breakfast, you'll disembark from the Nile cruise and begin your drive to Hurghada, a journey of around four hours through desert landscapes and small towns along the Red Sea road. On arrival, you'll check in to your hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure. You might choose to relax on the beach, explore the local markets or take a stroll along the marina.
Day 12
Hurghada at Leisure
Today, you will have a free day to explore Hurghada at your own pace. Enjoy some shopping, grab a coffee or simply unwind by the sea. Alternatively, you can choose to join one of many optional tours to experience the best of the Red Sea. From snorkelling and diving among vibrant coral reefs to windsurfing, sailing, or deep-sea fishing, there's something for everyone looking to make the most of their time on the coast.
Day 13
Relax by the Red Sea
This morning, you will have another day at leisure in Hurghada. You might choose to spend more time by the beach, explore the local area or enjoy a quiet moment at a café. If you're looking for more adventure, optional tours are available, including snorkelling and diving trips to the Red Sea’s coral reefs, or water sports such as windsurfing and sailing.
Day 14
Flight to Cairo
After your final breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to enjoy a last stroll along the beach, pick up some souvenirs, or simply relax before your transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo.
