Itinerary
Day 1
Bari
Upon arrival at Palese International Airport in Bari, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Once you have checked in, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure. You can enjoy some time relaxing, explore along the seafront, or browse local markets and artisan shops.
Day 2
Gastronomic Tour of Bari
After breakfast, meet your local guide for a half-day gastronomic tour through Bari’s historic centre. Wander its vibrant alleys, admire stately architecture, and see the famed Basilica of Saint Nicholas. A crossroads of cultures, Bari offers a rich blend of flavors and traditions rooted in its unique past.
The old town, with the Basilica of Saint Nicholas at its heart, is filled with narrow alleys, locals sitting on doorsteps, the aroma of fresh focaccia and drying orecchiette, and fishermen preparing sea urchins and octopus on the rocks.
You will enjoy a 3-hour street food tour where you’ll taste Bari’s specialties, including focaccia barese, sgagliozze, panzerotti, octopus sandwiches, and a sweet treat at a local favorite. Afterward, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore Bari at your own pace, enjoy a meal at a restaurant, or experience the city’s vibrant nightlife.
Day 3
Exploring Castellana Grotte & Transfer to Ostuni
Bari - Ostuni. This morning, you’ll depart for Ostuni, with a stop at Castellana Grotte to explore its stunning cave system, featuring vast chambers, intricate stalactites, and stalagmites, stretching 1.6 km at a depth of 70 metres.
Afterwards, you will continue your journey to Ostuni, known as the White City, where you will be transferred to your hotel for check-in.
You will then have the rest of the day to experience the White City at your own pace. Stroll through Ostuni’s picturesque old town, winding your way through its whitewashed alleys. Explore the Gothic Cathedral and Diocesan Museum, unwind in Piazza della Libertà near the Sant'Oronzo Obelisk, and sample local Apulian flavors at nearby cafés. Be sure to visit the Church and Palace of San Francesco, as well as the Civic Museum with its fascinating archaeological exhibits.
Day 4
Valle d’Itria Discovery & Transfer to Lecce
Ostuni - Locorotondo - Alberobello - Ostuni - Lecce. Today, you’ll set out in a private car with a local guide to explore the Valle d’Itria, known for its red earth, ancient olive trees, and trulli-dotted landscapes. You’ll visit Locorotondo, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, famed for its whitewashed houses, circular layout, and panoramic views of the valley.
Next, you’ll visit Alberobello, a one-of-a-kind village renowned for its distinctive trulli—whitewashed, round houses topped with conical stone roofs, unique to this region and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Afterwards, you will be transferred to the Ostuni railway station, where you will board a train heading to Lecce. Once you have arrived in Lecce, make your way to the hotel for check in.
Day 5
Lecce City Tour & Food Tasting
After breakfast, you will embark on a city tour with your local guide to explore Lecce’s historic centre and its main attractions. Along the way, you will savor a selection of local seasonal specialties. Start at Piazza del Duomo, a stunning square surrounded by Baroque buildings. Visit the grand Porta Napoli, a monumental city gate, and the Basilica of Santa Croce, renowned for its intricate Baroque exterior. The tour concludes at Piazza Sant'Oronzo, where you’ll explore the remains of a Roman amphitheater.
Afterward, you will have the rest of the day at leisure to further explore Lecce, enjoy a meal at one of the many local restaurants, or relax at one of the city’s charming spots, such as the peaceful Villa Comunale park, or a cozy café in Piazza Sant'Oronzo.
Day 6
Lecce to Bari
Lecce - Bari. Today, make your way to the railway station in Lecce after breakfast, where you will take a train back to Bari (approximately 1.5-2 hours). Once you have arrived, make your way to the hotel for check-in. You will then have the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 7
Bari
After your final breakfast, depending on your flight time, you may have time for some last-minute exploration or shopping before your private transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Safe travels!
