Itinerary

  • Day 1

Las Vegas to Kershaw Ryan State Park

Las Vegas - Kershaw Ryan State Park - Caliente. We’ll meet our guides and fellow travellers at 8am at Alexis Park Hotel Resort for a welcome briefing, then head to the bike shop to get fitted for bikes. Extra gear, like substitute pedals, can be rented or purchased if needed. Once we’re all set, our group travels through Nevada’s desert landscapes to Caliente and Kershaw Ryan State Park.

After a picnic lunch, we’ll enjoy a scenic half-day group ride (7–10 miles) through Kershaw Canyon. Surrounded by 14 miles of trails, this area features flowy singletrack and wide open terrain. The 7-mile Kershaw Redemption loop is a highlight—great for advanced beginners, and even more fun as we pick up the pace. Along the way, we’ll find shaded spots to rest and refill water.

This evening, we’ll enjoy dinner together as a group (self-paid).

Please Note: This tour is adventurous! Hiking and Biking ability is paramount (MUST be in good physical fitness), must be ok with biking uphill and exploring on foot. Good Physical Fitness Required. You must be able to bike for 5-20 miles each day on uneven terrain uphill and single track down. Hiking included trails of different elevations as well. Must be 18 years or older to book this tour.

Pick Up Point: You will be collected at the Alexis Park Hotel Resort at 8:00 this morning (375 E Harmon Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89169, United States). Please don't be late!

  • Day 2

    Barnes Canyon

Today we’ll enjoy a full day of mountain biking, covering approximately 15–20 miles from the Ella Mountain and Barnes Canyon region back into town. Just 4.5 miles out, the Barnes Canyon trail system offers everything from flowy intermediate routes to technical downhill sections. We’ll ride through striking desert landscapes with views of mountain ranges, unique geologic formations like the Teepee Rocks, and vibrant rainbow-coloured canyon walls.

Our expert guides will select a trail that suits the group—perhaps a shuttle to the top for an exhilarating descent, or a moderate loop through Barnes Canyon. Either way, it’s set to be a heart-pumping day of adventure.

We’ll enjoy a trailside lunch of sandwiches and snacks before returning to the hotel in the late afternoon.

  • Day 3

    Cathedral Gorge

Caliente - Ely. This morning, we continue our journey through Nevada’s breathtaking desert landscapes, making our way to Ely. Along the way, we’ll stop at Cathedral Gorge State Park for a short hike and a chance to explore its unique slot canyons—truly a hidden gem of the region.

After a picnic lunch en route, we’ll arrive in Ely by midday and get to know this historic town with a guided introduction and short tour. Later, we’ll head out to Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park for a gentle 2–3 mile group hike. Our guide will share the fascinating history of these well-preserved ovens, once used to process silver ore in the 1800s.

In the late afternoon, we’ll check in to our hotel.

  • Day 4

    Ward Mountain

We’re aiming for a late morning departure today before heading out for an afternoon of mountain biking. A half-day group ride is planned, but those keen for more can chat with the guides to extend the adventure. This afternoon we explore the Ward Mountain trails—just outside Ely’s doorstep—with over 25 miles of scenic routes weaving through sagebrush and pinyon-juniper forest.

We’ll ride a section of the Ice Plant Trail System, known for its mild to moderate climbs and fun, flowy descents. Higher up, trails from Murray Summit Campground offer thrilling descents right into downtown Ely. Expect a mix of terrain—narrow and rocky to smooth and fast—with 6–10 miles of riding and elevation changes of up to 1,600 feet. A shuttle drop can also be arranged for those who want more downhill action.

We’ll break for a picnic lunch on the trail before heading back to the hotel in the late afternoon for some well-earned rest and free time.

  • Day 5

    Cave Lake State Park

Today’s a full day of riding, but at a more relaxed pace as we explore the trails of Cave Lake State Park—home to some of Nevada’s best mountain biking. We’ll ride around 7–10 miles, with moderate climbs that take us from the lake up into mahogany forests and along dramatic limestone cliffs. Long, flowy descents lead us back down through three unique ecosystems, offering a truly varied and scenic ride.

We’ll kick off the morning with a shorter loop, followed by lunch in town at our favourite local food truck (included). After refuelling, we’ll return to the park to tackle a different loop in the afternoon. With elevation gains between 600–1,000 feet, highlights include the High Roller Trail for sweeping views and the fun-filled Twisted Pines Trail.

We’ll return to the hotel by late afternoon for free time, a shower, and some well-deserved rest.

  • Day 6

    Great Basin National Park

This morning, we head out for a one-hour drive to Great Basin National Park—Nevada’s only national park! Our day begins with a guided ranger-led tour of the incredible Lehman Caves, exploring stunning formations on a 60–90 minute walk through this natural wonder.

Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a delicious included lunch in the nearby town of Baker at a local farm-to-table spot known for its regional flavours and fresh ingredients.

In the afternoon, we make our way to Sacramento Pass for a scenic 3–5 mile ride. Your guides will choose a route suited to the group, with no more than 700 feet of elevation change—a perfect final ride overlooking some of Nevada’s highest peaks.

We return to Ely by early evening for our final night together.

  • Day 7

The Nevada Northern Railway & Las Vegas

Ely - Las Vegas. After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll have a relaxed morning with free time to enjoy the pool, gym, or take a stroll around town.

Later, we’ll embark on an included 90-minute journey aboard Nevada’s historic STEAM train. This trip will take us back in time on the Nevada Northern Railway, where we’ll ride on vintage steam engines still in operation year-round.

Lunch will be provided in town, followed by a stop at a local café for a coffee, tea, or smoothie.

We’ll return to Las Vegas by approximately 6pm to end our adventure.
