Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Casablanca

Once you have arrived in Casablanca, you will be met and transferred from the airport. Our driver will be waiting at the airport exit holding a sign with your name. You will then be transferred to your accommodation in Casablanca.

  • Day 2

    Casablanca to Chefchaouen

Casablanca - Rabat - Chefchaouen. This morning, we start the journey to visit the Hassan II Mosque, the biggest mosque in Casablanca.

We then continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Once in Rabat, we visit Hassan Tower, Bab Challah, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, one of the main gates of the Royal Palace, and the Kasbah of the Oudayas.

We then continue to Chefchaouen, arriving a bit early so you have time to walk through the blue alleys of the medina, take photographs and try the local food of this small city.

  • Day 3

    Chefchaouen to Fes

Chefchaouen - Fes. After breakfast, you have free time during the morning to visit the blue city. Chefchaouen is located in the Rif Mountains in the north-west of Morocco and is known for the remarkable buildings in different tones of faded blue in its old town.

Leather and weaving workshops line the steep cobbled alleys. In the shaded central square of Outa el Hammam stands the kasbah with its red walls, a fifteenth-century fortress and keep with ethnographic and artistic exhibitions. Not far from there rises the octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque.

After lunch in Chefchaouen, we continue the journey to Fes. The drive takes around three hours. On arrival in Fes, we check in to our accommodation.

  • Day 4

    Exploring Fes

Today, we start exploring Fes, the oldest city in Morocco, walking through its alleys and small streets.

Our visit begins at the Royal Palace gate, followed by the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah built in Morocco during the 14th century.

We then continue to several important cultural and historical sites including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest university in the world, the tanneries, and the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum.

After lunch, we visit the tiles cooperative and then enjoy a panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes.

  • Day 5

    Fes to Merzouga Desert

Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga. We leave Fes and travel towards Merzouga, passing through Ifrane, a beautiful mountain village often called the Switzerland of Morocco. We then stop in the cedar forest in the Middle Atlas Mountains.

Along the way, we experience views of both the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains, stopping at Azrou, a Berber village located in the middle of the famous cedar forest - the largest in Morocco - where we may see the Barbary apes.

We continue to Midelt, travelling through the hills and mountains of the Atlas, where we stop for you to grab lunch.

After lunch in Midelt, we travel through the Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, with views across the High Atlas plateau as the scenery gradually changes and the first signs of the desert appear near Errachidia.

We then continue along the Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views on the way to Erfoud and Rissani.

In the afternoon we arrive in Merzouga where we are welcomed with a glass of mint tea. We then ride camels into the dunes of the Sahara Desert of Merzouga to reach the camp where we spend the night.

  • Day 6

    Merzouga to Dades Valley

Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley. This morning, our camel guide wakes us early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. We then camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga, where we can appreciate the unique beauty of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, which change colour as the light shifts during the morning.

After breakfast and a hot shower at the riad, we leave for Rissani, Tinghir and the Todra Gorges, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco.

After lunch in the heart of the gorge, we drive through the Dades Valley where we see the sand castle formations and the unusual rock formations known as monkey toes.

Our accommodation is a guest house overlooking the Dades Valley.

  • Day 7

    Dades Valley to Marrakech

Dades Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech. Today, we travel through the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate and then continue to Marrakech. The road through the valley is known as the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, offering many opportunities to stop and take photographs.

We stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the centre of the Rose Valley, where you have the option to visit a cooperative producing rose products and purchase rosewater.

We then continue to Ouarzazate, a city south of the High Atlas Mountains often known as the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Here we see the Kasbah of Taourirt, home to a 19th-century palace, and you may also visit the Cinema Museum. Nearby is the fortified city of Ait Benhaddou, built from red earth on the side of a hill.

This ksar is a striking example of traditional southern Moroccan architecture. The village is made up of earthen buildings surrounded by defensive walls with corner towers. Some of the houses resemble small castles with high towers decorated with raw brick designs, and some of the oldest constructions date back to the 17th century.

We then continue our journey across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres in the High Atlas Mountains, where we have the opportunity to visit a Berber women’s cooperative producing argan oil, a product found only in Morocco.

  • Day 8

    Exploring Marrakech

After breakfast, we start exploring Marrakech, the red city of Morocco. We visit some of the most important historical and cultural sites, including the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian Tombs, and the Bahia Palace.

After lunch at a restaurant near the square, we walk through the souks where we see hundreds of traditional handicrafts.

In the afternoon, you have free time to wander through other parts of the city on your own.

  • Day 9

    Departure from Marrakech or Casablanca

Marrakech/Casablanca. Today, depending on your departure flight time and which airport you are flying from, you might have some time for some last-minute shopping, exploring or relaxing before being transferred to Casablanca Airport or Marrakech Airport for your onward flight.
