Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Arrival in Casablanca

Once you have arrived in Casablanca, you will be met at Mohammed V International Airport and transferred to your hotel in the city. After check-in, you can settle in and relax following your journey.

  • Day 2

    Casablanca, Rabat & Chefchaouen

Casablanca - Rabat - Chefchaouen. This morning, we begin our journey with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, the biggest mosque in the city.

We then continue to the capital of Morocco, Rabat. Here we visit Bab Challah, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, one of the main gates of the Royal Palace and the Kasbah of the Udayas. You will have time for lunch in a local restaurant.

Afterwards, we drive to the blue city of Chefchaouen. Along the way, we pass through many small towns and stop for breaks.

We aim to arrive in Chefchaouen a bit early, giving you time to walk through the blue alleys of the medina, take photos and experience the local food of this small city.

  • Day 3

Chefchaouen at Leisure & Transfer to Fes

Chefchaouen - Fes. Today, you have free time in the morning to visit the blue city of Chefchaouen. The city is located in the Rif Mountains in the north-west of Morocco and is known for the remarkable buildings of its old town, painted in different tones of faded blue.

You can wander through the steep cobbled alleys where leather and weaving workshops line the streets. In the shaded central square of Outa el Hammam stands the kasbah with its red walls, a fifteenth-century fortress and keep that houses ethnographic and artistic exhibitions. Not far from here rises the octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque.

After time for lunch, we continue travelling to Fez.

  • Day 4

    Exploring the Medina of Fes

Today, we explore Fes, the oldest city in Morocco, as we walk through its alleys and small streets.

Our visit begins at the Royal Palace gate before continuing to the Jewish Quarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco during the 14th century. We then visit several sites of cultural and historical interest, including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest university in the world, the tanneries and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss.

You will then have time for lunch before we visit the tiles cooperative and enjoy a panoramic view over the whole Medina of Fes.

  • Day 5

Middle Atlas to the Sahara Desert

Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Merzouga. After breakfast, we depart early from Fes and begin our ascent into the Middle Atlas Mountains. We pass through Ifrane, a winter ski resort built by the French in the 1930s in a style that resembles a Swiss village.

We continue to the cedar forest in Azrou where you will see the monkeys, before driving across the Middle Atlas Mountains. Much of the day is spent winding through forests, springs, jagged rock faces and Berber villages as we cross the mountains and begin our descent towards the Sahara Desert.

You will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, which is known for its fossils and rocks. After lunch, we continue towards Merzouga. Along the way, we stop at panoramic viewpoints where we can see a huge oasis of palm trees.

We arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon where we have dinner with Saharan music and spend the night in a traditional Berber camp.

  • Day 6

Sahara Sunrise & Journey to the Dades Gorge

Merzouga - Rissani - Tourog - Tinjdad - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley. We have an early start to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes before returning to our accommodation for breakfast and a shower.

We then visit the Rissani market and continue our journey across the palm-lined valleys of Tourog and Tinjdad as we travel towards the Todra Gorge. Here, we take a walk through the Todra Gorges.

You will have time for lunch in a local restaurant before we continue to our accommodation in the Dades Gorge.

  • Day 7

Through the Dades Valley to Marrakech

Dades Valley - Kalaat M’Gouna - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech. This morning, we begin travelling through the Dades Valley towards Ouarzazate and then continue to Marrakech. The road through the Dades Valley is known as the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, offering many opportunities to take some of the best photographs of the trip.

We stop at Kalaat M’Gouna, the centre of the Rose Valley, where you will have the option to visit a cooperative that produces rose products. Here you can purchase rosewater, a traditional product that will keep the scent of Morocco with your linen long after the trip.

We continue towards Marrakech with a visit to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. Built by Et Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains during the 19th century, the kasbah is now home to many members of the Glaoui family.

Our journey then continues across the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres. Along the way, we stop to see how argan oil - a product found only in Morocco - is produced by Berber women in their cooperative, before arriving at our overnight accommodation in Marrakech.

  • Day 8

    Discovering Marrakech

Today, we start exploring Marrakech, the Red City of Morocco. We visit some of the most important historical and cultural sites, including the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian Tombs, and the Bahia Palace.

You will then have time for lunch at a restaurant near the square.

After lunch, we walk through the souks where we see hundreds of handicrafts. In the afternoon, you will have some free time to wander and explore other parts of the city on your own.

  • Day 9

    Free Day in Marrakech
