Summary

From the grandeur of Gothic cathedrals in Leon to the historic port wine cellars of Porto, this 14-day journey weaves through northern Spain, the lush coastlines of Galicia, and deep into Portugal's cultural heart. We follow the footsteps of pilgrims in Santiago de Compostela, explore fjord-like inlets and fishing villages in the Rias Bajas, and uncover Portugal’s layered heritage in Coimbra, Fatima, and Lisbon. Returning to Spain, we discover the Moorish legacy of Andalucia in Sevilla and Granada, wander through the clifftop streets of Ronda, and conclude in the medieval marvel of Toledo.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Madrid, Leon & Oviedo

    The bus will depart from our terminal at 8:00 a.m. heading towards Leon, where we have time to explore some of its architectural treasures—such as the magnificent Gothic Cathedral with its vivid stained-glass windows, the Romanesque San Isidoro Church, and the ornate Plateresque façade of the San Marcos Hostal. From here, we continue through the green landscapes of Asturias to reach Oviedo. This evening, we enjoy dinner together and settle in for the night.

    Please note: This tour is bi-lingual and will be conducted in Spanish as well as in English.

  • Day 2

    Oviedo & La Coruna

    After breakfast, we leave Asturias behind and cross into Galicia, arriving in the coastal city of La Coruna. We take a short panoramic drive to see the highlights of this historic port before enjoying the afternoon at leisure. You may wish to join an optional excursion to explore the charming Rias Altas region, dotted with fishing villages like Pontedeume and Betanzos.

  • Day 3

    La Coruna & Santiago de Compostela

    This morning we make our way to Santiago de Compostela, the final destination for pilgrims walking the Camino. On a guided tour, we visit the grand Plaza del Obradoiro and the famous cathedral that marks the end of this sacred route. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace.

  • Day 4

    Santiago, Rias Bajas & Vigo

    Today we venture into the scenic Rias Bajas, a region known for its fjord-like estuaries and Galician charm. We stop at La Toja Island before arriving in O Grove, where you can choose to board a catamaran and cruise past mussel and oyster farms, sampling fresh seafood and local Ribeiro wine along the way. We then continue to Vigo, where the evening is yours to explore.

  • Day 5

    Vigo, Viana do Castelo, Braga & Porto

    Crossing into Portugal, we stop in Viana do Castelo, a handsome town where the Lima River meets the sea. Enjoy time to wander its historical centre, filled with baroque and Manueline buildings. We continue to Braga, one of Portugal’s oldest cities and a religious centre since Roman times. After a short visit, we arrive in Porto.

  • Day 6

    Porto

    Today we explore Porto on a guided tour, taking in key landmarks such as the Cathedral, the neoclassical Stock Exchange building, and the richly decorated Church of St. Clara. We conclude with a visit to a local wine cellar to sample the city’s iconic port wine. The afternoon is free to relax or explore the Ribeira district at your own pace.

  • Day 7

    Porto & Coimbra

    After breakfast, we make our way to Coimbra, home to one of Europe’s oldest universities and the birthplace of Portugal’s traditional Fado music. We enjoy lunch together, followed by free time to discover this academic city.

  • Day 8

    Coimbra, Fatima & Lisbon

    This morning we continue to Fatima, one of the world’s most important Catholic pilgrimage sites. Spend time visiting the sanctuary before we head to Lisbon, Portugal’s captivating capital. This evening, you might opt to experience a live Fado performance.

  • Day 9

    Lisbon

    A guided city tour introduces us to Lisbon’s highlights, including panoramic views from Edward VII Park, the historic Rossio Square, and the wide boulevards of Liberdade Avenue. We explore the atmospheric Madragoa district before heading to Belem to admire the Tower, Monument to the Discoveries, and Jeronimos Monastery. The afternoon is free, or you can join an optional excursion to the fairytale town of Sintra and the coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril.

  • Day 10

    Lisbon, Caceres & Seville

    We return to Spain today, stopping in the well-preserved medieval city of Caceres. Take time to stroll through the old town and its labyrinthine lanes before continuing south to Sevilla, the capital of Andalucia.

  • Day 11

    Seville

    On our morning tour of Sevilla, we discover the lush Maria Luisa Park, the grand Plaza de España, and admire the exterior of the immense Cathedral and the Giralda bell tower. We wander the enchanting Santa Cruz quarter, known for its narrow alleys and lively atmosphere. This afternoon, you might opt for a river cruise on the Guadalquivir or a visit to the Maestranza bullring. Lunch is included. In the evening, you can choose to attend an optional flamenco performance.

  • Day 12

    Seville, Ronda & Costa del Sol

    Today we travel along the scenic Route of the White Villages to reach Ronda, a striking hilltop town split by a deep gorge. After free time to explore, we continue to the sun-drenched Costa del Sol. Dinner and overnight near the beach.

  • Day 13

    Costa del Sol & Granada

    Have breakfast before departing for Granada. In Granada, explore the impressive This morning we travel to Granada, where we visit the spectacular Alhambra and Generalife Gardens, an architectural marvel from the Nasrid dynasty. Tonight, you may choose to experience the flamenco culture of the Sacromonte caves.

    Please Note: If Alhambra tickets are unavailable, an alternative Granada city tour will be arranged.

  • Day 14

    Granada, Toledo & Madrid

    We begin our return journey to Madrid with a stop in Toledo, a historic city once known as the melting pot of Christian, Muslim, and Jewish cultures. After lunch, we take in the views from the Mirador del Valle and enjoy a guided walk through the old town before continuing to Madrid, where our journey concludes.

    You will dropped on Ferraz Street, near the Plaza de Espana at approximately 17:30, though this time is subject to external factors such as traffic and passenger delays.
