Summary
From the famous Maasai Mara, the setting for the Great Migration, the foreground to Mt Kilimanjaro and the inspiration for the epic film Out of Africa, Kenya has places that will imprint on your memory and heart forever. This trip sees you riding in an open-top vehicle through National Parks and vast plains by day, and sleeping in safari-style lodges at night. Not only will you have a chance to see big game in the parks, you'll get up close to giraffes and elephants for the ultimate African encounter.
Itinerary
Day 1
Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Today your adventure begins. You’ll meet your guides and your fellow travellers, and then we’ll load up the safari vehicles and be on our way. Passing through the Great Rift Valley, we’ll get to our Maasai Mara lodge just in time for lunch – and then head out for our first game drive. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife large and small as we make our way across those magnificent rolling hills.
Day 2
Maasai Mara
After an early breakfast, you'll get the chance to head out on a hot air balloon ride to check out the African Savannah as the sun rises. Then, after a champagne breakfast to top it all off, you'll rejoin the morning's game drive. At midday, we’ll head back to the lodge for lunch and a swim, and then embark on our second game drive this afternoon – in search of Africa's elusive big cats. The Maasai Mara is the setting for one of nature’s greatest phenomena: The Great Migration. If you’re here at the right time of year, you’ll have the chance to witness millions of wildebeest and zebras en route to greener pastures.
Day 3
Maasai Mara to Nairobi
Rise and shine, Kenyan explorers! With the Maasai Mara lodged firmly in our memories (and our hearts), we'll make our way back to Nairobi this morning - where plenty more magic awaits. This afternoon we head back to Nairobi, where something truly special awaits us. We'll visit the Kibera Slum to see the incredible work being done by the Mirror of Hope Foundation - working to break the cycle of poverty through education, helping the women and children to improve their quality of life. Afterwards, the afternoon is yours to relax and choose from a variety of hotel restaurants with views of the Nairobi National Park.
Day 4
Nairobi to Amboseli
Back in Nairobi, we'll have the chance to take a unique game drive in Nairobi National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for waterholes, cityscapes and the elusive white rhino too. We'll also visit the Sheldrick Elephant rehabilitation nursery to watch baby elephants play and bathe in the water (the most beautiful chaotic mess you'll ever encounter), and hear the fascinating story of their road to recovery too. After a picnic lunch and a visit to a local Curio shop, we’ll head for our lodge (right on the edge of the Amboseli National Park, might we add, with views of Mt Kilimanjaro too!) to enjoy a delicious included dinner.
Day 5
Amboseli
After our morning's buffet breakfast, we will do a short safari walk to a Maasai village, guided by Maasai warriors as they teach us about their culture and everyday lives co-existing with wild animals. After lunch we will head out to Amboseli National Park, famous for its iconic shots of elephants and wildlife feeding in the foreground while the peak of Africa rises in the background: Mt Kilimanjaro. It's a photographer's dream, and it's all yours. Our final dinner in Kenya will be included back at the lodge.
Day 6
Amboseli to Nairobi
Our last day of this incredible trip will send us off with a bang, including one last morning game drive through the Amboseli to the Tanzania border. We then head back to Nairobi for drop-offs at Nairobi Airport or our hotel in Nairobi. With full hearts and memories, here is where we'll say fond farewells to our Africa adventure and our new the supplier family.

Customer reviews & ratings
I went into the trip with no expectations and came out with the best experiences! Our trip manager, *Personal information removed by Feefo*, was extremely knowledgeable and let me pick his brain about everything - the wildlife, the culture in Kenya, the way politics and the system works, and much more. In fact, any time we were stopped during the actual safari, it felt like *Personal information removed by Feefo* and *Personal information removed by Feefo* were the only ones giving us updates and information on the wildlife while the other vehicles were silent. We were lucky enough to see all of the Big 5, but even luckier to see much more than that (and ask *Personal information removed by Feefo*, and our other driver, *Personal information removed by Feefo*, so many questions!). I think my favorite part of the trip was the Masai Village tour, which was such an unique experience to learn how different societies live. I love that Contiki takes the time to go into the community and give us that immersive experience. A few things to keep in mind for those that are interested: 1. It's a lot of sitting and driving around since we're going from park to park. This is awesome because you get to see wildlife in so many different places but if you're like me with creaky bones, you may get a bit stiff. 2. On Day 7, you get dropped off near the airport. That whole morning, you will be going on a game drive and by the end we were pretty dusty. If we were going to do it differently, we would probably have flown out the next day but since we didn't we ended up at the hotel, a few of us got a day room and showered, since we felt pretty gross, before hopping on our flights. Definitely plan this into your itinerary! 3. This is a part of a modular trip that goes from Kenya to Tanzania. I was just able to do the Kenya part but it would have been awesome to have gone to Tanzania as well! All in all, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this trip. This was my first Contiki trip and it exceeded my expectations so much that I've already booked another for next year. Thank you again to my whole group, *Personal information removed by Feefo*, *Personal information removed by Feefo*, and the mastermind behind the Africa operations at Contiki (iykyk) for this amazing trip!
Sohini Kundu Jul, 2025 VerifiedI had an amazing time on the Kenya Safari trip! Everything was taken care of and organized so well, from the quality of the food to accomodation. Haron was the perfect trip manager who briefed us every day so we would know what to expect. We were extremely lucky with all the animals we saw, but it was also because of the efforts made by the trip managers. The add-ons were worth it and I dare say, with this trip you might end up doing some activities you probably wouldn't do if you were on your own/with family. So I would definitly recommend this trip!
