Itinerary
Day 1
Boston
We begin our journey with a morning meet-and-greet with your guide and fellow travellers in the lobby of our start hotel, followed by a highlights tour of Boston. This historic city offers a rich mix of Revolutionary landmarks and architectural gems. We drive along parts of the famous Freedom Trail, stopping at key sites such as Faneuil Hall, where the first calls for independence were heard. Discover events that sparked the American Revolution, including the Boston Massacre and the iconic tea party protest.
You’ll learn about the country’s first public school and how its legacy continues in modern education. Our tour also takes in the North End, known for its colonial history and Italian flair. We visit Paul Revere’s home and the Old North Church – key locations in the story of the Revolution – and enjoy a tasting of a traditional cappuccino and cannoli.
Later, we explore the cobbled streets of Beacon Hill, Boston’s most desirable neighbourhood. Admire the city’s most photographed street and the highest-priced real estate in town before checking into our hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2
Salem and Rockport
Boston - Salem - Rockport - Boston. Today we leave Boston behind for a day trip to Salem and Rockport. Our first stop is Salem, a city forever linked with the infamous witch trials of 1692. Walk through the historic district’s cobbled streets and visit the Salem Witch Museum to gain insight into this dark chapter of American history. At the House of the Seven Gables, made famous by Nathaniel Hawthorne, explore the architecture and tales of colonial life.
We then continue to Rockport, a charming coastal village known for its art scene and scenic shoreline. Stroll along Bearskin Neck, browse its quaint galleries and shops, and be sure to photograph Motif No. 1 – a symbol of New England’s maritime heritage. The day ends back in Boston with a relaxing seaside dinner at your leisure, perhaps sampling freshly caught lobster or clam chowder.
Day 3
Cape Cod & Plymouth
Boston - Cape Cod - Plymouth - Boston. We travel south to explore Cape Cod’s scenic coastline and historic towns. Crossing the Sagamore Bridge, we journey through Sandwich and Chatham before reaching the Cape Cod National Seashore. In Provincetown, discover the Pilgrim Monument & Museum and take in views across the Cape. Stroll down lively Commercial Street, filled with local shops, galleries and eateries.
There’s free time to enjoy activities such as a sand dune tour, cycling, or whale watching. On our return, we pause at Plymouth to photograph the Pilgrim ship replica and the site of the original Plymouth Colony – a fitting nod to early colonial America. We're heading back to Boston for the night.
Day 4
Harvard & Boston Back Bay
Boston - Cambridge - Boston. On our final day, we begin in Cambridge with a guided walking tour of Harvard University. Discover iconic spots like Memorial Hall and Memorial Church, and listen for the acoustic oddities under Sever Hall’s whispering arch. Take time to explore Harvard Yard, Cambridge Common or Harvard Square.
In the afternoon, we return to Boston for a relaxed visit to the Back Bay. Enjoy its historic charm, boutique shops, independent bookstores, and classic New England fare – including a lobster roll. You’ll have time to wander the Boston Public Garden or, in season, enjoy a ride on the famous Swan Boats. Our tour concludes in the early evening, with included drop off at the airport.
