Summary

Travel from Madrid through Portugal and Morocco on a 14-day tour filled with history, culture and vibrant charm. Visit Salamanca and Porto before reaching Lisbon’s riverside streets. Continue through Mérida, Seville and Córdoba’s grand Mosque-Cathedral, then journey along the White Villages route to the Costa del Sol. Cross the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier, Rabat and Fes, wandering medinas and the blue lanes of Chefchaouen. Conclude with Granada’s Alhambra and the historic treasures of Toledo before returning to Madrid.

Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Madrid, Salamanca & Porto

    Madrid - Salamanca (Spain) - Porto (Portugal). We depart from the bus terminal at 8:00 a.m. and travel to Salamanca, a historic university city renowned for its impressive architecture. You will have free time to explore the old town and admire the elegant Baroque-style Plaza Mayor. We then continue our journey to Porto, where we stay overnight.

    Please note: This tour is bilingual and will be conducted in Spanish as well as in English.

    Meeting Point: C. de Ferraz, 3, Moncloa - Aravaca, 28008 Madrid at 8:00.

  • Day 2

    Porto City Tour

    After breakfast, we set out on a panoramic tour of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage city. We visit the cathedral, the Stock Exchange, and the Church of Santa Clara, before ending at a local wine cellar to sample the city’s celebrated Port wine. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

  • Day 3

    Coimbra and Fátima to Lisbon

    Porto - Coimbra - Fatima - Lisbon. Today, we depart for Coimbra, home to one of Europe’s oldest universities and the birthplace of fado music. You will have free time to explore at your own pace before we continue to Fátima, one of the world’s most significant pilgrimage sites.

    You will have time to visit the Basilica and Sanctuary before we travel onwards to Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, where we stay overnight. In the evening, you may choose to attend a traditional fado performance.

  • Day 4

    Lisbon City Tour

    After breakfast, we set out on a panoramic tour of Lisbon, a beautiful city set at the mouth of the Tagus River. We visit the Park Viewpoint, Edward VII Square, Rossio Square, Liberdade Avenue, and the Madragoa District, known as the birthplace of traditional fado music.

    Our tour continues to the Belem District to see the iconic Tower of Belém, the Monument to the Discoveries, and the Jerónimos Monastery. The afternoon is at your leisure, with an optional excursion available to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril.

  • Day 5

    Mérida’s Roman Legacy to Seville

    Lisbon (Portugal) - Merida (Spain) - Seville. After breakfast, we depart for Mérida, crossing the Spanish border to reach this historic city famed for its remarkable Roman heritage. You will have free time to explore the archaeological complex, including the Roman Theatre and Amphitheatre, both recognised as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

    Lunch is at your leisure before we continue along the “Autovía de la Plata” known as the Silver Route towards Andalusia, arriving in Seville for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 6

    Seville City Tour

    We embark on a tour of Seville, visiting María Luisa Park, the magnificent Plaza de España, the exterior of the city’s grand Cathedral and its bell tower, La Giralda. We then explore the charming Santa Cruz Quarter, with its maze of narrow streets and picturesque squares.

    You may choose to take an optional cruise along the Guadalquivir River for views of the Gold Tower and the Expo 92 site or visit the Maestranza bullring. Lunch is at your leisure, and in the evening, you may opt to experience a traditional flamenco show.

  • Day 7

    Journey to Historic Córdoba

    Seville - Cordoba. Today, we travel to Córdoba. On arrival, we take a guided walking tour, entering through the Almodóvar Gate to explore the historic Jewish Quarter before visiting the city’s magnificent Mosque–Cathedral. The afternoon is free to enjoy at your own pace. We stay overnight in Córdoba, with dinner included.

  • Day 8

    Ronda & Costa del Sol

    Cordoba - Ronda - Costa del Sol. This morning, we travel along the scenic Route of the White Villages to reach Ronda, where you will have free time to explore this charming hilltop town. We then continue to the Costa del Sol , where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night

  • Day 9

    Journey to Morocco

    Costa del Sol (Spain) - Tangier (Morocco) - Asilah - Rabat. We depart from the Costa del Sol and cross the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier. After arriving in Morocco, we continue our journey towards Rabat, stopping en route for lunch at your leisure in the charming coastal town of Asilah. We reach Rabat in the afternoon.

  • Day 10

    Rabat & Fes

    Rabat - Fes. After breakfast, we explore Rabat, one of Morocco’s imperial cities. Our visit includes the Hassan Tower, an unfinished mosque marked by its impressive esplanade of more than 200 columns, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, built in honour of the sultan who secured Morocco’s independence. Here, the royal guard stands watch in traditional dress on horseback.

    We then continue to Fes, the country’s intellectual and spiritual capital. On arrival, we take a panoramic tour to see the Royal Palace with its seven ornate gates of Dar al-Makhzen before entering the captivating medina of Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its 785 mosques and over 2,000 alleys, squares, and lanes, it offers a fascinating journey through time. From Bab Boujloud to Es-Seffarine Square, we wander through centuries of history, discovering traditional guilds such as tanners and metalworkers, visiting a medersa, and observing artisans still practising their crafts as they have for generations. Lunch is served in a traditional local restaurant, followed by overnight accommodation in Fes.

  • Day 11

    Chefchaouen & Tangier

    Fes - Chefchaouen - Tangier. We depart for Chefchaouen, one of Morocco’s most picturesque and charming towns. We stroll through its narrow, blue-painted streets leading to Outa El Hammam Square, where you will have free time to explore. Later, we continue our journey to Tangier.

  • Day 12

    Back to Spain

    Tangier (Morocco) - Costa del Sol (Spain). Today, you have a free morning before we depart to board the ferry back to Spain. On arrival, we transfer to the Costa del Sol, where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night.

  • Day 13

    Granada and the Alhambra

    Costa del Sol - Granada. This morning, we travel to Granada to visit the magnificent Alhambra and Generalife, the former residence of Moorish kings, renowned for its beautiful gardens, fountains, and intricate architecture. Dinner and overnight stay in Granada. In the evening, you may choose an optional visit to the caves of Sacromonte to enjoy a traditional gypsy flamenco show.

    Please note: If tickets for the Alhambra and Generalife are unavailable, a city tour of Granada will be offered instead.

  • Day 14

    Toledo & Madrid

    Granada - Toledo - Madrid. After our final breakfast, we depart for Toledo, the Imperial City renowned for its rich history and impressive monuments. We enjoy lunch and take in a panoramic view from the Mirador del Valle before walking through the city’s charming old town. We then continue our journey back to Madrid, where our tour concludes.
